The Oath-sworn Clans
The Crane Basin has no single king or sovereign ruler. No one singular clan is more politically powerful than the other on the broader political spectrum with the outside world. A few key names have become recurrent in interacting on behalf of the Basin with the whole of Ellecrid, but the Basin itself is not a nation of united statehoods. That being said, however, something of a motley collective of clans within the Basin has formed in preamble and greetings to the rest of the world. This loose confederation establishes the means in which the Basin plans to interact with the world at large. Though the seats of this council are occupied by the diverse cultures of the Basin, they stand united as a unified people on the world stage for the first time in ages.
Structure
The Oathsworn Clans are at its core a confederacy of sworn groups of peoples, native to the Basin. Each clan sworn to the pact has a seat at the preverbal table to discuss matters and is obligated to respond to summonses and weigh the interests of the Basin against the machinations of nations they are only just meeting and bargaining with. Dependent on who calls for the meeting of the clans tends to preside and host the gathering, bringing forth their points of concern and debating and deliberating over them before opening the floor to those clans who sit in attendance. In this manner, this collective decides on actions to be taken between the Basin and the outside world.
Culture
Steeped very deeply in the cultures of the Basin, the Oathsworn observe no great departure from it while in session. Etiquette and honor is held in highest regard amongst the clans and to those foreign delegates so fortunate as to gain an audience or attend one on official business, they too are held to the same standards and are heavily scrutinized when decorum is breached.
Public Agenda
Simple enough, the Oathsworn Clans stand for the interests of the Basin, both internally and externally. It is understood that before its establishment, there was no commonplace for the clans to gather and discuss matters of all kinds without having guards and weapons present. That atmosphere is now forever changed as those sworn to the pact can acknowledge with relief that in the halls of the collective's meetings, they are in no danger of violent outbursts.
As the Basin has only recently entered the world stage, to preserve their culture, traditions, and customs, but open themselves up for all the economic and socio-political benefits available, the Oathsworn stand as both the overseers and the shrewd eyes that deal with any and all who wish to enterprise within the ring wall mountain range. They want to be open, they want to grow and reap the benefits from strong foreign relations, but they will not compromise their homeland, so they guard the gates.
Assets
In short, the Oathsworn Clans has the entire wealth of the Basin at it's disposal. Each and every clan brings something new to the table. Though many clans keep their cards close to chest, it is not far off to say the assets under the Oathsworn's dominion is immense and invaluable.
History
It is said that the Emperor of the Shisubeki, Kenshin Ichigami, led a months long campaign of diplomatic pilgrimage to the Great Clans of the Basin in order to establish the pact and ready the Basin for this first great step out into the wider world. It is said he did not falter or rest until each and everyone of the most prestigious clans agreed to the pact, giving whatever service of his own to assure their alliance . Not long after the pact was formed and the Oathsworn stepped out into Ellecrid, many of the other clans stepped up to join them and stand alongside them as a united front of the Basin's people to police and usher in this new, uncertain, but bright age.
Military
The Oathsworn Clans have no united standing military as of yet. Each individual clan supplies their own troops as needed, however, a combined force of Basin clansmen did venture out to the Blood Isles to support and join the allied forced against the Nocturna Coast forces under the direction of the Overlord Marcus Gias. It has already become clear that their adaptability to the ever shifting environments of the theatre of that war is a great asset to the allies.
Foreign Relations
As the Basin takes its first steps into the political stage of the world, their relations with other powers are minimal and growing by the day. They have yet to declare any true rivals or enemy states, however, they have supplied aid and support in both supplies and troops towards the Bellicum Marcus plaguing the seas just north of them. This act has earned them some great amiciable relations with both the Council of Wyrms as well as the nation of Amysthine and their new High King. They have also enterd into a truly lucrative trade agreement with the Empire of Denesen, fascilitated by the Band of the Bloody Stars' mercantile branch.
Other nations such as Aldacairn and Saleohapt look forward to fostering strong relations with the Basin, but little has been done in fully securing these avenues. Likewise, the island nation of Leorasta awaits missives back from both the Band of the Bloody Stars and the Oathsworn for trade deals of various kinds.
