Aria
This girl’s long, light blue hair stands out from the surroundings, reminding you of clear skies. Her cheery smile and laugh seem to be covering a deep sense of sorrow over her lost memories, but at the same time show a great hope and optimism.
The party found chained to a sacrificial altar in the Eingana Sewers. Upon freeing her, they found she had absolutely no memories except her own name, but she did have supernatural magical abilities that she could not explain.
Attempts to recover her memory at the local Temple of Light failed; the high priest was unable to discern anything amidst the darkness of her mind and forbade her from returning. Indeed, there seems to be a greater power acting on this girl; at the Summer Festival, the fortune teller initially had trouble seeing the stars at work in her fate. Furthermore, the Wind Guardian Alcuna Licenza was unable to even perceive her at the Wind Shrine, while the Fire Guardian Irato tried to accept her into his domain but was compelled not to. Still, she presses on cheerfully, disregarding the implications.
As of late, she has been having a recurring dream. There is a beautiful city of white with a great tower in the center. Dark clouds begin to roll in, and ominous thunder rolls across the land. She cannot shake the feeling that a terrible tragedy is about to befall the city.
Aria, the Shadow Guardian
A huge crystal lying at the bottom of the Pit of Abaddon. Its silver-blue sheen has long since faded to black. In truth, she is a natural spirit of the world, observing history from the underground. Her associated domains are memory and darkness. Originally a formless voice, she was given a human form by the Astrals: the Architect fashioned her appearance after a fallen friend of his. Though she initially had no name, she came to associate herself with the word "aria" after hearing the anguished man constantly listening to a recording of a singing voice.- Unlike the rest of the Guardians, she can physically manifest outside of her crystal. However, the crystal required regular maintenance to allow her to control this, and the disappearance of the Astrals has left her without anyone. Since then, she has been dormant, left dreaming in a low power state.
- Throughout history, her dreaming subconscious has manifested outside of the crystal, in many different forms but eventually settling as a much younger version of herself. At first, this mirror image remembered her Astral friends and sought to meet them again. However, as a mere vessel of a dream, the form was extremely limited in power and lifespan, inevitably leading to its painful death. Remembering less and less every manifestation, eventually, the child was left in a cycle of rebirth and death in a world where she had no memories, and her main self had no idea of this.
- However, she was able to keep the memory of the Astrals alive, inspiring numerous folk myths through her words...
- The Aria we know is the latest vessel. Rescued by the adventurers, she now travels with them, unaware (yet) that her life will soon come to an end in a matter of weeks. When will she remember? (visiting either water ruins or shadow ruins?)
