The Orthodoxy of Khazaria

A combination church and state nestled in the cold northwestern reaches of Norland, this nation has a strict code of laws befitting followers of the Eternal Judge. Secluded from the warmer, wealthier plains of Occitania and the mild hills and valleys of Blansys by the formidable Kaluramud range, boreal forest and tundra cover the land with snow practically year-round. As the main rival religion to the Church of Light , the Orthodoxy has clashed against Blansys numerous times in small-scale conflicts, but an uneasy peace has held in recent generations.

The Orthodoxy is led by a supreme Patriarch at the head of four orders headed by the Evangelists, powerful holy knights and clerics.
Society is highly stratified. Commoners are largely stuck as commoners their entire lives, while knights and nobles easily retain their stations regardless of merit. Priesthood is one of the only ways to advance one’s rank.
The forests are cold and dark, and the tundra desolate. Human settlements are few and far between, for fear of the beasts who stalk the nights.
There are illegal settlements hidden among the trees, where outlaws, [OTHER RACES], dissenters, and other general outcasts struggle to make a living.
Human supremacist? They definitely don't like elves or half elves, dwarves are tolerated, dragonborn are despised and treated as the lowest class, halflings are practically unheard of.
QUESTION: what’s the demographic like?
The Orthodoxy church and government are one and the same. Knights of the four Evangelist Orders keep the peace and serve as the nation’s military force.
The orders: the Bull, the Eagle, the Lion, and the Angel.

Order of the Bull: The economy
Order of the Eagle: Foreign affairs. The external military, as well as spies against the Church of Light
Order of the Lion: As a lion leads his pride, the Order of the Lion is in charge of internal security and peacekeeping. The feared not-so-secret secret police and inquisitors.
Order of the Angel: Matters of the spirit and the scripture are handled by this order. Though the orders are supposed to be equal in theory, their authority in this area lends them a status that is uniquely "more equal than the rest".

The majority of the Population is concentrated in the capital city, Khazarburg.
The secretive leader of the entire church is said to issue orders from the tallest spires of the Basilica in the capital of Khazarburg, overlooking the entire continent. (The truth is there is no central leader. Die)
Idea: they have a comatose Astrals in there powering everything. The secret plot is to somehow extract the Astral’s power, combine it with the Demon King’s soul, and elevate the evangelists to godlike power.
