Aslan

Aslan (AS-lann) is the god of Honor, Nobility, and Loyalty as well as the patron of good-aligned beasts. He is one of the younger deities, having been born 2,000 years ago as Jesus Christ, a Galilean Human from Israel on Earth.

History

Aslan was born a godchild. He was born as Jesus Christ to Mary, the Virgin Mother, through the Immaculate Conception in Bethlehem, Israel. Through his life, he followed the Hebrew teaching, became a rabbi, and acted as a spiritual leader, healer, and performer of miracles. His chief followers, the Apostles, helped spread his teachings and eventually became powerful agathion empyreal lords. Jesus was killed by crucifixion by the Romans as they feared his influence. He came back from the dead after three days and eventually passed into Heaven of his own accord.

Upon his passing, Elys raised his son to godhood as the god of honor, nobility, and loyalty. After struggling to find his place among the gods, Jesus became close to the agathion and, realizing they needed a god who truly represented them, he also became the patron of good beasts and took the visage of a lion, in honor of the Lion of Judah, and the name Aslan.

Relationships

Aslan is Elys’ son, born to the mortal Mary, the Virgin Mother, through the Immaculate Conception.

Aslan is a close and loyal ally to all of the gods of good and seeks to, and is often sought out to, mediate disagreements between them. He considers Adon, Alene, Gaia, and Vydana his closest allies.

Aslan is generally well-liked among all the gods and most try to stay on his good side; the only exception is Lamashtu, who is the patron of evil beasts and monsters.

Appearance

Aslan usually appears as a leonine humanoid wearing humble white robes with a blue sash and sandals, though he will also appear as either a large male lion or as a Galilean human with medium olive skin and dark brown hair wearing humble white robes with a blue sash and sandals.

Church of Aslan

Aslan is the god of nobility and majesty, thus most of his followers are benevolent nobility and idealistic knights, and his lordship over good beasts makes him popular amongst druids and rangers as well as good-aligned lycanthropes and intelligent magical beasts. Additionally, his mortal history as a spiritual leader and a teacher makes him a common patron for educators.

Clergy

Aslan’s clergy is primarily made up of redeemers, rangers and druids; clerics dedicated to him are uncommon. Redeemers tend to be taught one-on-one by existing redeemers rather than in groups at a temple, as other faiths may do. Druids make up a majority of the priesthood of Aslan’s faithful. These druids tend to make their groves closer to cities, so they can split their time tending to the wilds and their faithful in the city. Both urban and wildland rangers serve the church, often working out of the druid grove, or a small grove of their own in the city.

Temples and Shrines

Aslan has few temples, and all of them are small and in big cities, most places of worship are small chapels or groves within noble estates, or groves tended by druids or rangers. Without fail, a properly made grove, even one untended by a priest, attracts beasts of all sorts, and creates an area of serenity among them, thus it is not uncommon to find predators and prey resting side-by-side within the vicinity of a grove.
