Adon
Adon (uh-DAWN) is the god of freedom, martyrs, and endurance. He is one of the younger deities, having been born in the 20th Century ER as Adon Brunsvold, a Northron Human from Nevalus. He ascended to godhood in his mid-30s.
History
As a mortal, Adon ended the oppressive rule of King Fargrim Stordahl, a younger son of the previous Northron King who usurped his older brother. Adon, his half-sister, Adia, his wife, Ydona, and Grimolf Stordahl, the usurped king, led a small band of rebels and sympathetic adventurers called the Northern Brotherhood. One day, as Fargrim was travelling from Nevalus to Vestnaeyjar, the Brotherhood ambushed his entourage. Though they inflicted heavy casualties, they were forced to retreat, but not before Adon nearly removed Fargrim’s left eye, a scar he still bares to this day. Adon realized that he needed to swell his numbers and get the populous to support Grimolf if they wanted any chance of victory. Adon and Ydona began sneaking various locations where slaves toiled in mines, quarries, and fields; freeing them, and bringing them to revolt.
Grimolf and Adon finally assaulted Nevalus, where they met Fargrim in battle once more. It was a bloody fight, but Grimolf, Adon, Ydona managed to defeat Fargrim, but not before Fargrim mortally wounded Adon and Ydona. Fargrim fled the continent with his wife, his commanders, and a few loyal followers. Adon and Ydona’s funeral was attended by all of Nevalus. During his funeral, Selena appeared before the mournful crowd and declared the Adon and Ydona will continue to serve as symbols for freedom and perseverance and joy and liberty, respectively, and ascended the two to godhood.

Relationships
Adon is the older half-brother of Adia and the husband of Ydona. He considers Adia, Alene, Elys, Narrena, Selena, and Ydona amongst his closest allies.
Adon considers Asmodeus and Rhuxaros to be his worst enemies as they represent the tyranny and oppression that he fights against.

Appearance
Adon kept the appearance he had as a mortal. He appears as a golden-haired, blue-eyed Northron human in gold-trimmed silver scale mail over a blood red tabard, trimmed with white. Around each of his wrists are cuffs connected to ten-foot chains.
Church of Adon
Adon is the god of the downtrodden and oppressed, so many of those who need him most are in places that do not allow his worship. Slaves and oppressed peoples often worship him in secret, praying for their salvation. But, on the other hand, most civilized lands allow his worship. In these lands, the poor and impoverished go to Adon's temples for food and shelter, and the broken and lame come seeking healing and rehabilitation.
Clergy
The clergy of Adon are very humble, mostly comprised of clerics who have taken vows of charity, though many liberators and even rangers and druids serve him. Adon's priests wear humble, woolen habits and boast no finery other than a six-foot long silver chain they wear in place of a stole. These chains are their holy symbol and are also the weapons the clerics use to defend their charges, acting as spiked chains when wielded in combat. They tend to stay in larger cities to tend to the poor and impoverished, though many still do travel as missionaries to spread both Adon's teachings and hope to the oppressed where they can.
Liberators who serve Adon are a lot less stationary than his priests. They travel the lands ending banditry, tyranny, and oppression where they find it. Rangers and druids in Adon's service tend to serve much of the same function as his liberators, just with different methods, though they also extend this to animals, adding poaching to what they seek to end.

Temples and Shrines
Nearly every settlement that can be called a city has at least one Temple of Adon, where most major cities have two or more. These buildings tend to be large, but humble, each having room for a decent sized bunkhouse, a large communal hall to serve meals to any who need it, and a small hospital, in addition to living quarters for the priests. Additionally, in places where the worship of Adon is outlawed or taboo, such as the Kyraseian Empire, there are hidden shrines to him spread across the land in slave villages.
