Khaldir

Khaldir (kawl-DEER) is the god of Civilization, Guardians, Humanity, and Law.

History

As a mortal, he and the woman who would become Alene led the atlanteans to make a formal society and wrote the first recorded code of laws in Atlantean history.

Relationships

Khaldir and Alene are married. Additionally, Khaldir, along with Alene, still sees himself as Elys’ humble servant, and acts as his and, to a lesser extent, Selena’s retainer. Despite their differences, he is close with Narrena, as he was in life.  Additionally, he sees rest of the good gods as his charges, whom he must defend with his life.

Khaldir has a cold relationship with Breana, but ultimately lets her be as she is an unfortunate necessity to civilized society.

Khaldir’s main enemy is Asmodeus, for he twists the law to his whim and betrays the spirit of the law.

Appearance

Khaldir takes on the appearance he held in life. He appears as an atlantean man with black hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. He usually wears full plate over and red tunic and black trousers with a red tabard over his armor.

Church of Khaldir

As the god of civilization, guardians, and law, most of Khaldir’s worshippers are, in some way, associated with law enforcement or are protectors of some manner, additionally, many politicians and bureaucrats follow Khaldir as he gives them guidance in the workings of civilization and laws. Additionally, as with Alene and Aslan, Khaldir is a typically deity for idealistic knights and paladins.

Clergy

Khaldir’s clergy is large and organized, attracting paladins, champions, clerics, and inquisitors alike. Khaldir’s clergy tend to always wear their armor and look like hulking bastions of steel. Clerics of Khaldir can be identified by a red sash that they wear over their armor. Clerics spend much of their time doing the bureaucratic and clerical work for the church, while paladins, champions, and inquisitors spend much of their time aiding local law enforcement or bolstering private guard forces as threats arise.

Temples and Shrines

Most decent sized settlements have a temple to Khaldir, in fact a temple tends to crop up quite quickly after a settlement employs a professional guard force. Shrines to Khaldir can be found in most guard barracks, be they a government entity or a private force.

The Grand Bastion is the largest temple of Khaldir and an impregnable fortification around which the city of Brasten is built.
