Breana
Goddess of Poetic Justice and Assassins
Breana (bree-AH-nah) is the goddess of execution, torture, and assassins, but more so than that, she is the goddess of poetic justice.

Relationships
Breana maintains close alliances with
Eventa and Alene, though her personal relationship with Alene is a bit strained. Breana sees herself and Alene as two sides of the same coin, while Alene sees her as an unfortunate necessity. Additionally, Breana is tolerated Asmodeus and Khaldir as she only sanctions the death and torture of lawless individuals and serves out justice only to the deserving. They see her as the unfortunate necessity to a stable lawful society.
Breana despises Zolena, Lamashtu, and Surtr. Zolena and Surtr’s followers are too wanton in their use of death; and Lamashtu, she sees as an uncontrolled beast. Breana also often acts against Rhuxaros, the mortal enemy of who she believes to be her closest friend, though she does not demand so of her followers as she just likes to bloody his nose (usually literally).
Breana also feels that she must fight Naheia as she kills and punishes without thought of the law and punishment for crimes. Though, there is also a deep sympathy the Breana feels for Naheia, because most of what Naheia and her followers do is protect victims, albeit through extreme measures.
However, above all, Breana’s nemesis is Ixtarr as he encourages wanton killing as a means of causing strife and anarchy. The followers of Breana and Ixtarr engage in a shadow war; a constant string of assassination after assassination. This is something that Breana and Naheia share, and their followers will stop fighting each other in order to fight Ixtarr’s followers.

Appearance
Breana retained her appearance she had as a mortal. She appears as a half-elven woman with red hair, green eyes and pale skin. She wears black leather armor over a dark olive coat, dark blue trousers and brown leather boots. She usually appears cloaked with her lower face masked.
Church of Breana
Breana is often mistaken for Ixtarr as the god of murder, but to her death is a punishment that only befits the crime of taking a life. To her, wonton killing is abhorrent, and what she does is execution. She only grants powers to blackguards of lawful evil alignment (and with the Dark Knight archetype) and to clerics of lawful evil and lawful neutral alignments. She does not grant spells to templars. All assassins who wish her favor must be part of a guild with established rules on how they take contracts.
To Breana, murder and torture should be seen as a comeuppance and no one should be subjected to this if they are not deserving, and, even more importantly, the punishment must fit the crime. If someone is tortured in Breana’s name they must be told why, almost as if being charged with a crime. If someone is killed in Breana’s name, a note is left with their charges. When it comes to murder and torture, Breana demands that everything must be justified within the binds of the law and that the punishment must fit the crime.
Despite her harsh demand for justice, Breana is known to be merciful and lenient in her judgement. For example, while her usual punishment for thievery is the loss of the non-dominant hand, those forced into thievery by their station, such as the starving poor, who only steal enough for themselves and their loved ones to survive, may only lose a finger. A punishment must be served, but not everyone is deserving of equal punishment. Mercy and leniency are things she demands of her followers, and those who do not show it will also be punished.

Clergy
Most members of the Church of Breana are priests or blackguards. Occasionally, she will grant powers to inquisitors or oracles, but their normal functions do not often suit her purposes. Most members of the Church are assassins.
Temples and Shrines
The Church of Breana is odd amongst lawful churches, as it has no formal temples. Divine characters who worship Breana maintain shrines inside established assassin’s guilds. The priests and blackguards of the church work closely with law enforcement, and, often, people who are obviously guilty, but the guards cannot prove, end up dead with a note of charges. Guardsmen often turn a blind eye to this as it makes their job easier and gets bad people off the street.
