Chapter 29: Pirates!
General Summary
On the 23rd of Ruvaen, a little over a week after leaving Bellindola, the group found themselves engrossed in a map that Leon had purchased in the previous city. They asked captain Hanna more about what Southern Emaniquora was like. She informed them that it is a humid place, full of prairies, marshes, and of course, Helvater. She told them a little about the society there: the empire mostly left them alone so long as they kept to themselves; she also told them that they were fairly tolerant of magic there. Finally, she imparted to them that the Mistyeyed, the guides in Belsyr, were a strange bunch but they were great guides and only loose a few groups each year.
That night they were suddenly awoken to alarm bells being run and the ship turning suddenly and quickly. Returning to the deck, they were informed by Hanna that they were under attack by a pirate ship that she used to work on called The Silent Serpent captained by Beckett Crawford. Eventually, they were boarded by the pirates. There were losses to the crew on both sides, particularily to the crew of The Sturgeon. However, the group eventually won out when they were able to convince Beckett to give up his attack.
They then searched The Silent Serpent and found treasures throughout. Leon found a sapphire hidden in the figurehead. Jacquora searched below deck and found many clothes, three platinum, and two gold bracelets. Aqiatuxl looked throughout the captains quarters and found a zircon stone, the captain's log, 9 platinum, and a good amount of delicious foods. Lenihlra searched the crew's quarters and found 2 vials of poison, 3 of the crew's diaries, and 5 gold pieces. With the ship searched, Leon summoned a fire mephit and burned the ship and the dead pirates. The ship sunk to the bottom of the ocean just as the sun began to peak above the horizon.
On the 25th of Ruvaen they finally arrived in Klagensee. They found a budget hotel to stay in called The Armed Rose. The pirates were also turned over to the authorities. The next morning, ont the 26th, they rented three hores from Empire Rent-a-Horse, manned by an awkward teenage Catfolk. The horses cost 25 gp per horse as a deposit with 1 cp per day rented. Aqiatuxl received Waldo, Lenihlra recieved Sherbet, and Jacquora received Cassie. Leon opted to conjure a phantom horse to ride instead. With that, they began their journey westward towards Belsyr, Helvater, and eventually, Arnsholdi.
