Aufrica Hik

Lady Aufrica Hik

Aufrica Hik was born on one of the wineries outside of Ittaben. As soon as she was old enough she was immediately put to work in the vineyards, picking and stomping grapes from an early age. Having befriended the heiress of the vineyards as children, she was allowed into the estate house to receive a growing education, and thanks to the patronage of her friend, Aufrica was enabled to provide ideas that helped the winery soar to produce the most prized wines in western Emicara. Her instinctual aptitude and work ethic for winery work brought Aufrica up as a foreman for the winery, making her friend ever more wealthy.    The outbreak of the Spyi Civil War changed everything, as Aufrica's friend and her family threw in their lot with the Sihka Tribe and the Church of the One Sun that they followed. Aufrica, on the other hand had been raised in the faith of the Wicka Pantheon, and followed the old ways. This disagreements led to Aufrica being tossed out of her old friend's house and left without work or home. Popular among the workers of Ittaben, Aufrica led an uprising against the old lords and ladies of the town, and brought the support of the people to Quico Bienombe and his tribe as they fought for the old ways of the Sypi Confederacy. Aufrica's efforts were essential to securing the wealth of Ittaben for the Bienombe cause, helping to claim the northern road of the Confederacy.   After the war was ended, the owners of the wineries, including Aufrica's old friends, had either been slain or fled to Losana or elsewhere around the Circle Sea. With the vineyards laying fallow, Quico Bienombe granted the lands to Aufrica, and she was quick too to claim the titles left equally barren by her absentee former landlords. As the new Lady of Ittaben, Aufrica elevated her former workers and peers from the vineyards, and single-handedly established a new noble class in the town. Seeking to create a sympathetic aristocracy, with limited succeess, Aufrica has since married her wartime lover and taken up the mantle as the first of House Hik, a new era of nobility for the Sypi Confederacy.
