Forblu
Forblu is a smaller new town in the northern Mersan Union, providing a center for trade and commerce in an area predominantly inhabited by farmers. It was constructed as a center for military action and commerce after the area was badly razed by Recfreran raiders during the Opella War. Built in a low valley in the Apps Mountain foothills, is laid out simply, with much of the town beyond the central wall and fort in the middle of the valley. The urban center of the community acts as retail for local workers and farmers, who come in from the surrounding valley to buy the day to day goods they need in their lives. Outside of the wall are numerous small hamlets all represented by Forblu, often working together to sell their wares to those seeking to supply the food market in Cleveland or Dahlonega.
Demographics
The majority of the people living in Forblu are Jorgan farmers from the surrounding countryside who either work in the fields or sell their wares in the town center. A small number of dwarves and snallygasters have also settled in the area, but they are in a clear minority. Alongside them are a handful of various other merchants of other races that have migrated for the serene countryside and simple living away from neighboring cities.
Government
A bureaucracy manages most of the city, with law enforcement and protection of the town being managed by an elected sheriff. The sheriff is overseen by a similarly elected mayor, who serves six year terms of service to watch over the populace. The mayor has full authority to appoint any other post within the town's government that is not an elected position, including both judges and administrators. These individuals handle the day to day affairs of the community and the matters of the town's citizenry.
Defences
A modest stone wall stands around the town of Forblu, impressive for its size when compared to the total population of the community. Rather than being paid for by local taxes, it was instead constructed from the national defense budget of the Mersan Union. The protection of the market was deemed of great importance after so many farmers lost their lives in the defense of the area. Due to the town's small size, it possesses only a dozen paid guardsmen, who enforce the law and raise and lower the gates of the town when needed. In times of extreme urgency, the mayor can summon up a militia of nearly three hundred and fifty local farmers and citizens.
Infrastructure
The town of Forblu predominantly has its main streets paved and lit with oil lamps, rather than magical lighting. The central marketplace has a large memorial that marks those who were killed by the Recfreran raids during the Opella War. Outside of these structures and the surrounding wall, there is not much in the way of large infrastructure projects that have been launched here.
Assets
Forblu has little to offer most adventurers and travelers not looking to purchase foodstuffs and farmed goods from neighboring hamlets and homesteads. The marketplace hosts a single inn and several smaller taverns that occasionally let out rooms when the town is particularly busy. The market predominantly sells usual goods for surviving in town or in the countryside, mostly sundries and furniture offered for the farmers outside of town. Merchants from other locales can also make arrangements for shipments of food and agricultural surplus to their own communities here.
Guilds and Factions
The town of Forblu is too young to have any truly homegrown factions and organizations vying for dominance. Instead, most of the political battles occurring are over the disposition of the grains and crops sold in the market. Merchants and grocers in Cleveland and Dahlonega are persistently attempting to gain influence over the government of Forblu to emphasize the efforts to bring in their goods for their respective cities. They are constantly attempting to curry favor with the town's farmers and bureaucracy to secure the best trade agreements and lion's share of exports.
