Hurmun Evenbraid
Surface Lord Hurmun Everbraid
Hurmun Evenbraid was born in one of the old strongholds of the Apps Mountains, living in a smaller hold with his family. His clan was primarily focused upon the growing of foodstuffs and the development of mountain farming, and were in a isolated valley in distant Torpek Volgy. The arrival of a foul dragon and the collapse of the valley's economy led to the Everbraid Clan being functionally destroyed, and the few survivors fled southward. Hurmun's entire family, and most of his children were slain in the chaos that followed, or starved to death in the treacherous mountain journey to the Long Road. Hurmun himself was the only survivor of the caravan that made it to Teva, and he soon found that his story was simply one of thousands that were much like his own.
Although he did not have any experience in mining at the time, Hurmun found employment with the Crysos Mining Company, who were hiring any and all dwarves to work the mines. He soon found himself in debt to his new employers, and after a decade of service, he was arrested for nonpayment and sent to the new outpost known as Wingo Mine. Unable to see the sun and unable to repay his debts, he was forced to labor in the mine until he fell in with Dalmus Grimboot, who promised a new day to the dwarven people. Hurmun became a diligent soldier for Grimboot, even as the decades passed with the dwarves imprisoned in the mine only growing in number.
When the Wingo Rebellion began, Hurmun was one of many who joined in the escape from Wingo Mine and their rescue by the Tenashi Kingdom. He was one of Grimboot's oldest supporters, and Hurmun was granted command of one regiment as the war began in earnest. Hurmun managed to distinguish himself in several battles throughout the Wingo War, and rose in rank. After the war was won, he was rewarded with a permanent military position in the regiments of Valtkos Wingo and one of the seized aristocratic estates in the town of Tinnt. After spending nearly a century imprisoned underground, Hurmun requested a position in one of the captured human towns, and King Dalmus rewarded him with the title of Surface Lord of Tinnt.
After moving permanently to Tinnt, Hurmun has begun pondering the idea of finally starting his life anew, and has begun courting the daughter of another one of Grimboot's supporters. With a marriage seemingly on the horizon, Hurmun has been content to allow the clans in Tinnt to manage themselves and to take a lighter hand towards governance.
