Isabelle Minagh
Mayor Isabelle Minagh
Isabelle Minagh was born to a lower class family in the town of Burrow, her father a laborer, and her mother stayed at home with Isabelle and her siblings. Isabelle's early life was mostly uneducated, with simply learning to survive on the streets of the small town, playing with other children and learning social skills while helping around the household. When she reached sixteen, her father made an arrangement for marriage with a local small business owner, a step up for the family as a whole. Isabelle chose instead to flee to Wofslar, escaping Burrow under the cover of darkness.
Intent on forging out her own legacy and life, Isabelle began anew in Wofslar, but unfortunately the city somewhat consumed her, and she was forced into several unsavory roles over nearly a decade before beginning to find a way out of the tunnel. During the course of her newfound employment, she met a man working with the Sypi Surveyor's Guild, an organization established by the main towns of the Confederacy. Without the nomadic and hunting lifestyle of the tribes, the towns were always seeking out sources of static resources, and the Surveyor's Guild was hired to look for minerals and resources alike. Although her relationship with the guild member was certainly more carnal, she was able to blackmail him into gaining a position as a surveyor's apprentice.
Barely literate, learning the arts of the surveyor proved a daunting task, but Isabelle went to work with gusto, learning the trade. She proved unable to grasp the more rudimentary concepts, but instead found that her true calling was with handling the accounts of expeditions, being able to track numbers and made trade deals with the tribes far more efficiently than her coworkers. Eventually, she fell in love with one of the other surveyors, and the two became a dynamic duo, making multiple successful expeditions throughout the rural regions of the Sypi Confederacy and Kingdom of Alsona alike. They had multiple children and ultimately purchased a home in Burrow, as most of Isabelle's family had passed away during an epidemic in 982. She kept an eye upon her old family members, but none recognized nor cared about her return.
Eventually, after establishing a comfortable fortune, Isabelle and her husband retired from business as their children took up work and received a decent education in Burrow. This blissful retirement was interrupted with the outbreak of the Sypi Civil War. Two of her children joined the forces aligning themselves with Quico Bienombe against the Sihka Tribe and the Church of the One Sun. Having joined the consolidated army, one of them died in battle in 1023, while the other served throughout the war. The Burrow Incident in 1025 changed everything for Isabelle, as they were forced to flee to the safety of Burrow Keep and one of her other children was slaughtered by the Sihka warriors.
After the siege and battles were over, Isabelle blamed the former mayor for negligence towards the defenses of the town during the conflict. In a spark of outrage, she managed to whip the people of Burrow into a frenzy against him, and in the 1027 election, became the new mayor of Burrow. She has overseen the bulk of the reconstruction efforts taking place in Burrow, helping to rebuild the town. Despite the death of her husband and her advanced age, she has continued to prove a capable leader of the people.
