Nythilleath Nightgazer

Land Warden Nythilleath Nightgazer

Nythilleath Nightgazer is the Headman of Ripli, while at the same time being the Land Warden of the Root Wardens. Before he was ever a warrior against the giants, however, he began learning how to be a weapon smith and crafter, using magic and trees to create powerful spears and bows. He was raised into a family of artisans in Tenashi and spent a significant amount of time learning to create these weapons of battle, and his entire first century was simply learning this elven art. he proved to be highly skilled as a craftsman and eventually moved on to newer things.   Nythilleath's skill as a bowyer was not unnoticed by the powers that be in Tenashi. He was ordered by the queen to go and serve in Ripli to provide weapons to the elves of the Root Wardens. In a constant battle against the giants, this was the one place where weaponry could be put to consistent use. Although hesitant to leave Tenashi, Nythilleath could not resist the possibility of seeing his weapons actually be put to the test against an enemy of the elves. He would have to wait.   For nearly a century, Nythilleath spent his time crafting weapons for the Wardens, only to see them rest in an armory or be used by the most novice of warriors. Even for an elf, this proved a frustratingly long time to not be able to demonstrate the value of his skills. It was in this frustration that he took his own bow and arrows on a hunt for a giant. In a harrowing adventure that lasted nearly six months, Nythilleath found himself on the wrong side of the Sypi River after being captured by a hill giant and nearly eaten. In this time, he slew over two dozen giants before returning to Ripli, where he learned that his peril had been observed by scrying, but no consensus had been made on how to help him.   In an outrage, Nythilleath condemned the lax attitudes of the Root Wardens of the time. He stated that he had proven the value of both himself and the weapons he made, but that it would never have been necessary if the wardens had only taken a more aggressive approach to defending the lands of the elves. Many of the younger wardens agreed with the points made, and in a surprise moment of acclaim and recognition for his deeds, he was resounding nominated the new Land Warden. He continued to both hunt giants and craft weaponry in the years that followed.   The Wingo War was a moment that caused great concern for Nythilleath. The outbreak of the first true war for elves since the collapse of the Feywild would have seemed to be a key moment for a man who took pride in his war and weapon crafts. Instead, he proved outspoken in his opposition to supporting the dwarves, and through his influence prevented members of the Root Wardens from being involved. This has led to him being functionally exiled from Tenashi itself, where he has become unwelcome in elven society. He remains highly respected among the wardens, both for his weapons and his skill in leading them against the giants.
