Tenashi

The city of Tenashi is a testament to the mixture of civilization and woodlands that the wood elves of Emicara treasure above all else. Built through the powerfully tall and wide trees of the central Dytikaxylo, the trees were enhanced in size and fortitude by the fading magic of the Feywild, by artifacts used by the elves when they abandoned their lost home. The structures of Tenashi are made of wood and gloriously decorated and carved, with hundreds of years spent in fine tuning the exact detailing and artistry of the city. The majority of the city is built within and atop these massive trees, and a random traveler below would never even know the city was there unless they were expressly looking for it.

Demographics

The entire population of Tenashi consists solely of wood elves. The majority of the kingdom's population resides within the city, and only a handful of people live outside of the comforting woods that mark the capital. Even after the opening of the kingdom in the wake of the Wingo War, foreigners are still forbidden from entry into Tenashi, and only twice have there been delegations sent to the city, once when the dwarves appealed for aid in liberating the Wingo Mine, and again when the final treaty was signed. The sole exception is the occasional forest gnomes, who live in their own burrows amid the great roots of the city.

Government

The queen is the direct ruler of the city of Tenashi, and the other communities have their own familial heads. Each village and town headsman receives their directions from the queen herself for the management of the community, assuming that her direct intervention is required. Most of the time, however, every forest elf community is given ample leeway and freedom of action.

Defences

The greatest defense of Tenashi is its height and concealment. Ancient magical charms protect the Tenashi from detection at forest level, and an army could and has spent years combing the forest without ever finding the city's entrances. The trees themselves that make up the supports of the city are magically enchanted to protect them against fire and axes, preventing the foundation of the capital from ever being undermined. The wildlife itself keeps an eye on the forest for the elves, and the gnomes of the woods regularly report when there are intruders that could threaten the elf city. In hundreds of years, thanks to these efforts, there has been no true threat to Tenashi.

Industry & Trade

The wood elves have little need for the gold and wealth of other nations, and only a limited amount of trade has occurred, almost entirely during the Wingo War. During the Wingo War, the elves provided old weapons and food to the dwarves and humans of western Alsona to help them win the conflict. This was in addition to the elven warriors sent to fight alongside the rebels. Since the war concluded, the trade has stopped, despite dwarven pleas during times of famine. The only trade that still takes place is between Tenashi and its outposts throughout the forest, shipping foods between the sights as the outer communities will provide luxury foods that require the ground itself to grow and cannot flourish within the trees.

Infrastructure

The city of Tenashi is a masterpiece of magical engineering, as enchantments that once only existed in the now defunct Feywild provide a standard of living outmatched throughout most of Emicara. Grown elevators within trees enable the residents of the city to travel between levels and neighborhoods, while any waste is harmless brought down and used as fertilizer for the growth of the trees and surrounding brush. The walkways among the trees themselves are grown from the very branches, connecting every part of the community naturally. The Palace of the Fey Queen is the greatest marker of the city, appearing similar in style to a massive grove of trees growing out of the largest tree in the forest. At night every pathway is lit by natural lighting in the form of giant fireflies, which provide bioluminescent brilliance to every corner of the city.

Assets

Foreign adventurers are not welcome in the Tenashi Kingdom, and they will find no succor or place to stay. If they persist, they are likely to end up dead or worse. For wood elves, however, the city is a refuge, a safe haven away from any woe or strife. Everything needed is provided by the monarchy, from food to water to lodgings. Every elf has the time to engage in hobbies and craftsmanship, and Tenashi artisans have become unrivaled through the world, but more often than not, their skills will never leave the forest, as trade is limited, and only what adventuring elves take with them ever enter into the economy of the outside nations.
