Port Brockett Publishing Company
The Port Brockett Publishing Company was established in direct cooperation with the Lord Mayor of Capcora, seeking to bring further support and money to the growing colony in Emeralia. Although the expedition had been mostly successful to date, the lack of people willing to travel for months to an uncertain future led to a demand for more information of the exploits of the colonists there. In cooperation with local broadsheet producers in Capcora, funds were provided for the shipping of a printing press to the New World, to allow the production and shipment of broadsheets both in the New World and to be returned to the Old. Adventurers and explorers were called upon to help provide material for the new works, to encourage the growth of trade and immigration to the east.
Structure
Although the leadership of the publishing company works closely with the Lord Mayor of Capcora, and takes instructions from him and the Governor-General of Port Brockett, the Chief Editor retains a sizeable amount of independence in his work and publications. At this moment the entire staff of the organization consists solely of the chief editor and five laborers and workers with the press, but he has began hiring freelance writers and adventurers to provide content for the press. They answer to him and are provided their wages directly from the editor's office.
Public Agenda
The Publishing Company seeks solely to increase the knowledge and awareness of the existence, struggles, and wealth of the New World in the Old World. They hope to encourage immigration from the Old World to Port Brockett, to help the city grow and thrive. In Emeralia, the Company also hopes to spread information about the hazards of the surrounding regions, to aid scouts and settlers in finding places of safety to work and live. They have proclaimed that their publishing attempts will help increase survival of expeditions into the wilderness.
Assets
The Company thus far possesses only a small shack that has been constructed to house the printing press in Port Brockett. They have also brought over a substantial cache of gold and trading goods to reward contributors to the newspaper and provide bounties to explorers. These wages are closely audited by the Governor-General to make sure that no embezzlement or theft occurs from the staff of the paper or its freelancers.
