Port Brockett

Established in the waning months of 1040 AF, Port Brockett was established by a small group of determined settlers sent by the Free City of Capcora. Named for the first Governor-General to be placed in charge, it was designated the primary port and outpost for the exploration of the recently discovered continent of Emeralia. Built along the coast of Sapphire Bay, it was offered shelter from the harsh storms of the Endless Ocean. The port continues to struggle due to the four to five month travel time for supplies to reach the colony by boat.

Demographics

The initial team sent to establish Port Brockett consisted entirely of humans and halflings, with a handful of settlers of other races and nationalities. Most of the supporting ships and crews on supply ships to the part were crewed similarly, mostly being human crews staffed by the workers of House Maddern .

Government

Due to the small size of the settlement, it is ruled directly by the Governor-General, an appointed official sent by the Lord Mayor of Capcora to manage affairs on his behalf. The Governor-General has absolute judicial and legal authority over the settlement, but is often forced to take care of any extant issues himself, including dealing with the distribution and sale of supplies to the townsfolk. Most people in the city are left to manage their own affairs, but the Governor-General and his aids keeps close track on the dispersing of land and resources to those who have chosen to settle here.

Defences

The town's defenses are rudimentary at best, consisting solely of whatever people can be bothered to be roused against any external threat. So far, no external threats beyond occasional wildlife have been spotted, so defense has taken a backburner to the priorities of the town leadership.

Infrastructure

There is very little in the way of infrastructure built in Port Brockett. A single rickety dock and a warehouse are the only structures built so far by the limited resources provided by Capcora. A large series of tents were merged together to create the Pitched Tent Tavern, the only place to relax and recover from the hard labors that living on the frontier requires.

    A party exploring the northern cliffsides discovered a cave being occupied by monkeys that had been apparently attacked by the stone statues that had escaped from the maze. The monkeys attacked, and the party was forced to return for a lost longbow and to finish the job, wiping them out and clearing the cave.
