Salali Charki

Commander Salali Charki

Salali Charki was raised in the Charki Tribe and had a fairly simplistic lifestyle growing up. She was raised among the numerous other children of the tribe, and helped her family gather fruits and vegetables from the lush surrounding Cotaw Plains. She attended the needed lessons regularly and built a strong friends and family network among the tribe. Salali was getting ready to settle down and had been courting a young man when outbreak of the Sypi Civil War changed everything for her.    The Charki Tribe had sided with Quico Bienombe and his tribe in their war against the Sihka Tribe and their rebellion. Members of the tribe were drafted for raiding parties and a combined army to fight the Sihka and their supporters from the nations of the Circle Sea and the Church of the One Sun. In one of these early skirmishes her lover was killed in what had been an accident, and unable to bear the idea of continuing in her life without him, Salali fled. She vowed to escape from the conflict that had taken everything from her, and found a refuge in the form of the River Watch.   The River Watch were welcoming new recruits with open arms as many veterans had deserted to serve their tribes or communities in the ongoing war. Salali was able to distinguish herself in combat against giants and their servants several times over the years that the River Watch was able to maintain their neutrality in the conflict. Ultimately, however, the tides of the war turned against the Sihka, as they attacked Burrow and dragged the River Watch into the fighting. Salali refused to participate in the conflict, and she was reassigned to Woodswatch Keep, where she was eventually elevated to a training and desk position.    Having kept out of the war, and found her career stagnated, Salali has contented herself to training the next generations of River Watch warriors. Her efforts have been appreciated, and she continues to advocate for the continued neutrality of the Watch when it comes to the affairs of the Confederacy. She is known for being particularly hard on recruits from the destroyed tribes and the Bienombe Tribe, as she continues to blame them for the deaths of her long lost love and the future she could have had.
