Each of the Erlithmanil form a pact with the beasts watching over their crystals, creating Elemental Familiars. These beasts still wander Emynea, trying to find a new body for their master's revival.

The first of the Elemental Familiar's enact their pact with their corresponding Erlithmanil. Duff becomes Zalikar's familiar, gaining a draconic form, raw elemental power akin to his master and even immortality. In return, he begins his search for a new body for Zalikar. A number of his once allies imitate Duff while others take a stand against him to no success. Eventually, over the course of centuries, each Erlithmanil gains a familiar in this fashion.
