Polis

The memory of this wood walled cities inception has been lost to the annals of history. It is believed that where it city now stands, there was a forest, and the humans dismantled the forest to create it's great wall.   For a great many years it stood in the fields of The Ardent, using the Ogham River to feed it's people and act as a trading post. It at one time had a river port that allowed barges, and river faring merchants to stop and sell their goods. At one time it was a bustling city, and was a shining example of what humans could do.   Polis is a left over ruins from just before the human-elf war. It was sacked in 3240. The siege lasted for many months, and when the elves took down the northern wall it marked the end of the once great city. This was the first Elven aggression, and is thought to be the first act that lead to the Human-Elf war, though it wouldn't officially start for another 400 years. The remaining survivors went on to found the city of what is known as West Brier.   Long after the Human-Elf War ended, Settlers looked again to Polis, for it's prime spot on the Ogham River, and protective walls. The walls were eventually rebuilt, and reinforced.
