Anncaria

The All Seeing Eyes

The All Seeing Eyes of Anncaria have been watching the people of Aéredon for as long as they have been living on this planet. She has been teaching them the ways of her arcane craft, how to weave their own spells and unlocking the hidden knowledge left behind by Aéredon‘s previous inhabiters.   She is often depicted as a tall but sleek fox form, wrapped in radiant purple robes, trimmed in exotic gold. She wields a powerful staff, with an arcane orb placed in its crook. Her wrists are covered in bracelets and bangles covered in mystical runes. She is said to shroud herself in mysticism and speak in riddles, rarely revealing herself in her true form. Instead a symbol of an eye is how she prefers to be known.   Anncaria is the goddess of Goddess of the Arcane, History, Invention, and Knowledge. She is the Patron of Wizards and Mages. She regards knowledge as the right to all people, as well as a strong belief that everyone should learn how to wield this power. However, the other Celestial Primes hold steadfast to the tradition that only the pious who revere the Gods are capable of learning magic.

Magic For All

The first followers of Anncaria wanted a place where they could study and learn, as well as teach new students the process of mastering the arcane. It became known as The Arcanium Universalis, a massive educational complex in the capital city, Emerald Bay. By now it has grown to cover a majority of the The Amethyst District, with the campus spanning several city blocks. Since it’s establishment, citizens have flocked from all over the kingdom to use the largest public library in the known world. Every year new students are selected through rigorous training and evaluation of skill to attend the school and dedicate their entire lives to protecting and improving the school.

The Festival of Lights

The holy celebration honoring Anncaria and all the technological advances made by the Kingdom are displayed annually at the Festival of Lights, where students and faculty come together to showcase their magical abilities through spellcasting competions, carnival games, and shows full of magical effects. This week of arcane revelry culminates in a massive firework display out over the water of The Great Bay after the giant feast thrown by the King and Queen on the final evening. Thousands of people from all over flock to the city to see the countless shimmering lights and wonders of the capital city. The Festival is one of the busiest times of year in the Kingdom.

Inquisitorial Investigators

These dedicated agents of the college are sworn to maintain the delicate balance of magic in the mortal realm. They possess a keen sense for detecting and safeguarding magical auras, ensuring that the power gifted to mortals is used justly. Acting as the guardians of peace and security, they are the watchful unwavering All Seeing Eyes of their Mistress.   Patrolling the land in pairs, the Inquisitorial Investigators provide safety and protection to the common folk. While they can act as a police force in extreme cases, their primary focus lies in delving deep into the shadows that afflict individuals. Through their relentless investigations, they uncover the hidden dealings and machinations of those who seek to exploit magic for their own gain. With their unwavering resolve and their ability to pierce through the darkness, the Eyes ensure that justice prevails and the magic remains a force for good.

Traditions

  • The Rite of the Four Elements: a sacred ceremony where individuals attune themselves to the four elemental forces: earth, air, fire, and water. Through rituals and meditations, participants seek to harness the power of these elements and deepen their connection with the natural world.
  • Gathering of the Arcane Minds: An annual gathering of all the alumni scholars, mages, and magic enthusiasts from all corners of Aéredon. They come together to share their knowledge, research findings, and magical discoveries. It's a time of intellectual exchange, where new spells, enchantments, and theories are discussed and celebrated. It is every spring, and can last for a few days, or several weeks, depending on the complexity of the discussion. It is the only time the college is closed to the public.

Tenets

  • Reverence for nature and its balance. The followers of Anncaria hold a deep respect for the natural world, understanding that all living beings are interconnected and should be treated with kindness and care.
  • Power of magic and its responsible use. Magic is seen as a gift, and those who possess it are encouraged to use it for the betterment of themselves and others. However, there is also a belief in the need for balance and restraint, as unchecked magic can lead to chaos and imbalance.
  • Preserving and studying history. Historians understand the value of their past and the lessons it holds. They believe that by studying history, they can gain wisdom, learn from past mistakes, and appreciate the accomplishments of those who came before them.
