Korril

Korril is the capital city of the Nation of Bells, as well as the whole of the Korum Empire.   Korril has been known, for better or worse, as the central hub of trade, politics, schools, innovation, and noble houses in the Empire. After over a thousand years, the city has risen also as a jewel in the Nation of Bells for city dwellers. Under the command and financial power of noble houses all the way up to the Lirusyle Family, the vast majority of buildings, roads, and structures in the city are made from shaped river stones or stones from quarries--primarily granite and marble in the noble house districts, and sandstone and limestone for much of the other districts. The various gates and archways throughout the city and between districts are lined with a white-blue onyx with street names and district names carved upon them. This city in stone is known Empire-wide for it's remarkable scale of stonework.   In addition to the buildings, the city is highly manicured, even in the simpler trade districts. Many small fountains, parks, lawns, streams, and gardens dot the city avenue, populated with various statues, plaques, and markers to pay tribute to the founding nobility.   Through the city streets is a constant din of people moving about. From Nortlat fur traders on their jofrs  to Szalan spice merchants to cartographers from the The Essun Comms, the city is constantly moving. Hundreds of markets are spread throughout Korril, many with specialized focused, but a few grand markets exist where hundreds, if not thousands of Empire denizens can find nearly anything they seek.
The name Korril is derived from an archaic term in House Empire meaning, "gateway."
