Ghoulism
Ghoulism is a sinister disease where an intelligent person transform into a flesh eating monster who has lost all his memories of who he was before.
The disease is well known amongst healers and scholars, but amongs the peasants it is more part of legends. A reason while some one in remote areas might not recognise what is happening and try to heal them in the home.
Transmission & Vectors
The only known way for the disease to be spread is through being bitten by another ghoul.
Symptoms
In the early stages the victim developes fever and strong pain in the facial area. The jaw start to swoll up and the teeth are starting to come loose. The skin turnes pale and dry and start to crack up. The stage usually last for one or two days.
In the late stage the fever becomes unaturally high and in the end the victim dies from pain and fever. This stage last approximatly one day.
Treatment
The only remedies are through magic in form of spells or alchemy if the disease have been contracted. The cure can be found in most towns of decent size.
History
Ghoulism are mention in the earliest of written sources, and some early oral traditions as well. There have been a few known large outbreaks in large cities.
