Stre' Kaas

The Ancient Sands

Stre' Kaas is home to a pantheon of animal-like gods, Who rule over the region and are usually beloved by it's people. It is a region filled with hot, Humid weather, Large mountain ranges, One of the biggest deserts in the world and the most famous body of water that still counts as a river, The Nile.   When the pantheons were still choosing their respective areas to rule, Stre' Kaas was a generic grassland that was almost identical to Athrae. The Stre' Kartaa saw this, And with their technology, Teraformed the area to better fit their preferred land type. Cutting large rivers into the land, Placing almost swamp-like foliage and placing a large desert at the end. This is why certain areas will have strange borders to them, Such as where the desert blends with the grassland in a way that doesn't feel quite natural. Hot climates and a centuries old desert is where the Stre' Kartaa feel at home, Preferring the feeling of an Ancient civiliation, Which it now actually is. This is why their Heavenly Plane, The Field of Reeds, Is almost exactly like Stre' Kaas. Except for the noticable increase in technological advancement.   Whether you're fighting a Sarka in the Ancient Sands, Reading books with Thoth or Having a relaxing day sailing in The Nile, Theres always something to do in Stre' Kaas, Especially if you prefer the feeling of living in the past, Like the Kartaa themselves.

Geography

Stre' Kaas is mostly humid grassland with tropical trees, That lead into desert. Of course the desert and grassland is important to the overall geography of the area, But it's most well known feature is The Nile, A giant river that cuts through the region, Seperating them into two sections. Going back to the desert. It is named The Ancient Sands, As it is one of the oldest areas in Erethes, The majority of the previous civiliations are buried under the sands, The inhabitants of long past turning into mummified zombies due to an ancient curse.

Localized Phenomena

While this doesn't apply to the other areas as much, The desert area is a hotspot for supernatural lightning storms, Often being dangerous to travel outside when it's happening. Luckily, The cities are protected by the gods, But venturing into the actual desert is a death sentence. It is also very common that there will be giant sandstorms that travel through the desert, Often making it nigh-impossible to see or traverse.   It is very possible that these two events can happen at once, Making it certain death to wander outside of the cities.

Climate

The entireity of Stre' Kaas is Humid, Hot and overall hellish for someone that may be accustomed to someplace like Takahara for example.

Fauna & Flora

While the majority of animals that you could normally see in other locations fully exist in the grassy areas, The desert is a different story. The desert is home to many creatures: Giant, Ant-like monsters. Large sandworms. Mummies and Feral vampires. The list goes on.

Natural Resources

There are no real "Natural" resorces in Stre' Kaas, As a result of the Stre' Kartaa practically teraforming the region to their liking. There is nothing that can be found underground, But you could most likely salvage the trees for a unique type of wood perhaps.

Tourism

Cyrus. The capital city of Stre' Kaas, And home to the pantheon as well. They live inside of the ginormous pyramid in the city, Each with their own rooms and such. The city itself has many large buildings. Tall towers of sandstone and wood that often connect to each other with sandstone bridges between buildings, Along with large stone walls that contain carved houses behind it's many imbedded doors and staircases. Great place to go if you're first visiting.   Passageway of Faces. Most likely the actual first place most people see when entering the region. It is named so due to a certain tunnel you have to walk through, Which happens to house a hivemind creature of sorts within it's walls. People normally end up seeing it's many faces while passing through.   Daybreak. A large town located within a mountain valley. They worship a large tree that grew from an Yggdrasil seed, In fact, the whole town is built around it. They use it as a shrine to Freyr and Baldur.   Temple of Ra. One of the largest temples in Erethes, It is devoted to the Stre' Kartaa deity, Ra. Many people come to worship the leader of Stre' Kaas, With some becoming devoted priests of sunlight. Great place to go for a nice view or meditation.   Ocean Breath Temple. Another temple in Stre' Kaas, Except this one is much more diverse. It houses multiple rooms, Each with it's own shrine to a god relating to water or the ocean. Such beings include: Poseidon, Susanoo, Izanami, Sobek, Aegir and Ran, Dagon, Etc.   Anru. This city is one of the oldest cities in the region, But has sadly been long abandoned. Long ago, The city had begun to fall into a large sinkhole, Trapping those who couldn't escape underneath the torrent of sand that poured in. As a vengence curse of sorts, These people have been converted into zombified mummies, Cursed to wander the sunken ruins of their former city. Don't go here unless you want to be eaten.   Naharvan. The second largest city in Stre' Kaas. Their culture is fairly different than the likes of Cyrus, Taking more inspiration from Ahriman's original teachings. Don't take that as a bad sign however, The city is very nice and rich in history. It is living proof that not everything the Creator did was so bad.   Pit of the Gravewalker. A large sunken pit in the middle of the desert, It houses the oldest prison on Erethes, Being used to hold Gods and Mortals alike. The Stre' Kartaa don't usually tend to hold Mortals anymore, But there can be exceptions. It is still used to hold Set, For his crime, He received an eternal punishment.
