In 621SE, Halitus: The Realm of Elementals orbited so close to Terranus - The Prime Material PLane that its laws of elemental governance bleed into the material plane and created the Genesi.
It is estimated that 5% of the population of Eroedon were affected, giving them the ability to alter either fire, earth, water or air to varying degrees.  It effectively cause an expansion of the Third Division of The Magical Triad.
