Tane

Tane is a god of leadership and justice. A patriarchal deity worshipped by many races across the world, Tane is recognised as a champion of goodness and strict arbitrator of the law.   Tane is the principal deity of the Kingdom of Galdra, as well as the dwarves of Karskalazar. In Galdra, his worship is centred at the Justicad, a vast cathedral and law court topped with an iron and mithril dome. The archpriest of Tane at the Justicad, the Grand Patras, holds the highest legal authority in the kingdom - surpassing even the monarch in matters of ethics.   In the dwarven capital Dagundrad, Tane worship's is centred at the Hallowed Hall, a vast temple carved from solid stone in the foundations of the mountain. It is overseen by the Dagunpatzar, the most senior dwarven cleric in Karskalazar.   Tane's priests are called Patras (singular) or Patrasi (plural). They focus on providing education, spiritual guidance, and officiating ceremonies in the name of their god. Some Patras have the additional rank of Justicar, a title that bestows them the authority to act as judges in matters of law. Justicars can also function as inquisitors, gaining additional powers and privileges where threats to their faithful are identified.
Tane is sometimes referred to as 'The Patriarch', 'The Throned One' or 'The Great Decrier'.

Divine Domains

Tane's primary domains are Air, Good, Law and Nobility. His subdomains are Archon, Cloud, Inevitable and Leadership.

Holy Books & Codes

The holy book of Tane is called the Taneion. It recounts Tane's battles against Dulicta, Nemeon's betrayal and the Fall of Eidel, as well as a vast collection of tenets meant to enable Tane's followers to lead just lives.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Tane is usually depicted as armoured warrior, with a flowing white beard and carrying a stern expression on a handsome, but aged face. He often wields his trusty axe, Skycleaver, and is sometimes shown seated on his steed, the silver stag Morvac. Galdrans depict Tane as human, while Dagundra depict him as a dwarf. Elves, who regard Tane as a less important deity, depict him as a dwarf as well - to the annoyance of Galdran clergy.
In some representations, Tane is shown to be missing his left hand. This refers to a legend that Tane lost the limb in a duel against Nemeon, who in turn lost his right hand in the same battle. In Galdran and Dagun superstition, left-handed people are an ill omen on account of the association with the hated deity.
Tane's favoured weapons are the greataxe and warhammer, as codified by humans and dwarves respectively.
His mystic card is Justice, and his holy number is 11.

Tenets of Faith

Tane believes in honesty, justice and hard work. Deceit, negligence and laziness are grave moral failings according to his followers.
Tane is perceived as a paragon of goodness, but not the source of goodness in the universe. He is, in the eyes of his worshippers, the perfect example to follow. Other 'noble' deities, particularly Elade, Iphazia and Raskinot, are considered to be allies and friends of Tane.

Holidays

There is no month named after Tane. According to legend, Galdric the Great decreed that Tane should be revered all year long, hence his absence from the Esharran Calendar.
