Izmid
While many consider the port city of Oldharbor to be the oldest settlement on the continent of Weströnd, Izmid’s founding was not far behind. The city began as a small trade village located along Greenhook Bay and at the mouth of the Red River, intended as an economic hub for the traveling merchant caravans of the Sirkaar Desert. Following the establishment of House Madani and the founding of Cadiz and the Kingdom of Sirkaar, Izmid became the next logical settlement for the throne to invest in and develop. As a result, the village blossomed into a city of great wealth and economic prosperity.
Culturally, Izmid is incredibly diverse—a direct result of the numerous travelers and merchants that pass through the city’s boundaries. The city is marked by an array of rich architectural styles incorporating minarets, arabesque patterns, and pointed arches and domes. Furthermore, Izmid's Riverside District is home to some of the greatest art galleries in all of Esos.
Government
Izmid is governed by a rather wise and senior gold dragonborn named Nasr Razin. Nasr presides over the great trade city, as well as the lands and villages surrounding it. The statesman is considered to be an incredibly fair and just leader. In addition, Nasr is the son of the great Yasmin Rezin, the woman who looked the Stormgard Empire in the face and did not blink as she played a crucial part in the Seax Rebellion and the Sirkaarian Liberation War. The Rezin family have long been loyal allies to House Madani, and to this day Nasr remains a close advisor and confidant for the young queen in Cadiz.

Izmid stands as the gem of the northern territories of the Kingdom of Sirkaar. Sitting along the shores of Greenhook Bay, Izmid is home to some of the greatest shipwrights, cartographers, and navigators in the entire kingdom. The city partakes in a vibrant sea trade and shipping economy. Nearly every sort of good and service can be found in Izmid. The great number of merchants and travelers that pass through the city means that there are abundant inns, taverns, underground markets, and rare auctions available to Izmid’s residents and visitors.
