Mather Jones (a.k.a. The Captain)
Mather Jones or "The Captain" is the current leader of the Murkwood Thieves Guild. A retired pirate, he quickly rose up the ranks of the organisation after joining in his early 50's and was named as the future Don by the previous leader shortly before his death. As the leader of the guild he has kept things running smoothly and has improved the guild's effectiveness after a slip during the aftermath of Margot's death.

Personal history
Mather was a pirate captain from Liberté during the days of Margot's rule, being well respected and commonly taking on new pirates and training them in the way of sailing and piracy. During the collapse of the Estellian Empire, he and his crew (joined with one of his prior students) went on a trip to try and steal a strange treasure that had been in transit during the collapse. However, the raiding party discovered that the Emperor's Country had become cursed and full of dangerous monsters. They pushed on, until only Mather and his prior student remained. They had claimed their treasure, one of The Hands of Creation with which he could use to bring his crew back to life. However, his student took the hand and used it to send herself home.
Mather managed to sneak out of the cursed lands, and took up a job as a member of the Theive's guild in murkwood. Over the years he would quickly rise through the ranks and eventually take the roll of the guilds leader. In 1135 he would work with a group of adventurers to take down The Black Coven who were threatening to take his son during the next offering. He paid them with the hand of creation that he had reccently stolen back, which he had planned to use to bribe the coven into not taking his child.
