Vaeri Jovaris

Vaeri Jovaris was the 47th High Planeswalker of Ushana, and the mentor of Arvel Telavia.

History

Choosing a Planescribe

Despite ascending to the office of High Planeswalker in 1141, Vaeri did not identify a Planescribe until she was well into her 110s. She ultimately identified Arvel Telavia as her Planescribe in 1183, and took a rather hands-off approach to training her to be the next Planeswalker. She sent Arvel to travel around the world and develop relationships with other nations, as well as undertake dangerous but educational adventures while she could. Because of her advanced age, Vaeri abdicated her position as Planeswalker much more quickly than usual, resulting in one of the shortest stints as a Planescribe in history for Arvel, and also ascending her at a relatively young age for the position. Vaeri died in 1191 while transfering her knowledge to Arvel, at the age of 124.

Despite taking a hands-off experiential approach to mentoring Arvel, Vaeri was strict in her teachings when she did take an active role. Arvel continues to have great respect for her old mentor, and occasionally wishes she could seek her counsel on particularly troublesome issues.
