High Priestess of Sehanine

This title is given to a select number of Priestesses across the The Empire of the Rune Keepers who tend to the Temples and Churches of Sehanine Moonbow.
Each religious site only ever has a single High Priestess at any one time; it is the highest position within the faith one can achieve and is permissible only to women as a reflection of the Lunar Lady's authority and position within the Seldarine.

Requirements

Candidates for the position of High Priestess must have a strong belief in the Lunar Lady and her tenets; must have served the faith for at least ten years; must be of Elven heritage and inherently female.
Those with natural talents as seers and mystics often have a higher chance or being selected, but those who are gifted in the smiting of undead and protection of hallowed ground are also often considered.

Appointment

A member of the Church of Sehanine is elected by their local or most frequently visited temple, normally by the High Priestess who is to surrender their position or by their spokesperson should they have passed away before being able to handle their affairs.
A candidate must be willing to move into the location of the selected temple or church on a permanent basis, and must under go a pilgrimage to the key temples and holy sites dedicated to Sehanine to recieve approval from the other High Priestesses.

Duties

As with all Priestesses of Sehanine's church, the High Priestess must be willing to serve as a spiritual councillor to Elves and Half-Elves who wish to embark on journeys of enlightenment.
They must be capable of being shepherding and protecting the dead via divine calling, as well as organizing and performing the correct funeral rites to see the dead transcend to their destined place.
They must be capable of defending the The Empire of the Rune Keepers against threats both divine and otherwise when called upon, and must be able to seek out and destroy undead creatures.
The High Priestesses are charged with deciding who to send where in relation to the search for lost arcane and magical knowledge. They also select the individuals responsible for delivering news to the more isolated Elven enclaves and Clans.
They must be able to oversee and aptly execute the selection of Holy days dedicated to Sehanine.

Benefits

High Priestesses hold a decent political standing, as many are considered capable of foresight due to their service of the Mystic Seer, Sehanine.

Accoutrements & Equipment

High Priestesses are often easily noticeable by their midnight blue robes, which are always embroidered with silver moons and stars. Their hair is always styled in a series of elaborate braids which act as symbols of their position along side the Devotee's Censer often found at their sides.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

To be removed from this position is to have abandoned Sehanine herself, and is possible only by defying the base tenets of her faith. Namely, by practicing necromancy; raising the dead and bringing purposeful danger to the Elven people.
