Gallery of Magic

The Gallery of Magic is a place built by Vivian Decard to house the different types of mages in the south, while it is not exclusive to mages of the south many are from the southern regions as they are able to easily travel to it. The mages only allow one entrance and exit to the demi-plane that the school exists in. While they cannot stay in this plane for more that a week at a time before they have to venture back to the material plane many tend to re enter just as they leave seeking to continue their studies in the worlds biggest library contained here. The spells that keep the plane afloat and stable also prevent any who do not have substancial magical abilities out of the realm and even Vivian herself cannot overturn this spell as it is a powerful magic that would need every powerful mage to agree to lift it so that a non mage could enter which has never happened before.

Purpose / Function

The school itself is made from several spires that surround a central spire, the central spire is the main building with the general library, where the apprentices stay, the mess hall, and other rooms needed for basic living. Within the main spire is also where the apprentices continue their training before entering one of the magical groups that govern themselves basically in each of the surrounding spires. Each of the surrounding spires is controlled by a leader of the different factions of mages that choose how they want to pursue their studies in whatever forms of magic they deem fit unless it violates the rules of the Sothern Mage Conglomerate.

Valuables

The vault of the central spire rests at the very bottom of the demi-plane. This vault contains so many magic items that their concentrated magic could rip a hole through the demi-plane itself. All kinds of staffs and wands along with manuels on creating creatures and spellbooks from all the past leaders and teachers meaning that almost every spell in the known world is kept in these vaults. Guarded by four iron golems and an alert spell that sends an alert to Vivian Decard when anyone crosses the threshold it activates a scrying stone and she can see into the vault to see who is stealing or why the golems were activated.

Hazards & Traps

Within the vault there is a trap that can only be activated by the one who holds the keys to the central spire, the Archmagi. This trap is meant as a last resort when the golems are defeated the whole room will magically seal itself and the wards that seal the room will also make all the oxygen in the room vanish making all those who breath in this room begin to suffocate.

Alterations

- Central Spire: The central spire contains the main courtyard along with the meeting hall inside the spire. Inside there are long tables and benches for the majority of the students to sit and at the front of the room is a podium for the archmage to speak and a table behind the podium with a place for the archmage to eat along with places for the other lead mages from each spire. Here they eat and hold meetings the concern the whole of the school, above this they also have some comfortable guest rooms and above that they have an indoor arena for duels. 
 
  • Spire of Illusion: The spire of Illusion is home to the Royal Elitist's of the school, the spire itself is one of the more confusing ones as not everyone sees the same paths or decorations as another. Two people can walk in the same door and end up in different places of the tower. Illusions are many but not all are difficult to see through and without the illusions the spire is plain with a light blue and white color pallet and a more used look to all the furniture.

  • Spire of the Fey: The spire of the fey is home to the Isolationist Order of the school, the spire itself is at one with its gardens having plants and animals roam freely in the gardens before the spire and the spire itself. Having the schools supply of magical and medicinal plants growing they are able to brew almost any potion and have the recipes for all. Their spire is decorated with modern wood furniture while also existing harmoniously with wild vegetation.

  • Spire of Black Iron: The spire of black iron is home to Eldar's Collective, the spire itself is made of ridged and sharp black iron looking rather menacing at first glance. Once inside the spire is made with the most lavish furnishings of black slick marble and black leather chairs and other furnishings with a slight red tint. Here the school teaches about demon summoning and necromancy so the school has a cemetery of students that were unfortunately slain in duels or experiments gone wrong and their bodies are used to teach other students about necromancy and the proper ways to defend against undead while some learn about the best ways to summon and trap demons though the teaching of that is looked down upon by the new archmage Vivian Decard

  • Spire of Flesh: This spire is made from what appears to be living flesh, the tower shifting and pulsing to a steady beat like that of a heart. Inside though the furnishings are quite quaint but the white marble and ever burning pits and wall torches provide plenty of light. Ritualistic magic is taught here often but recently the spire has seen only its key members enter as the leader is in the middle of writing the laws of his new religion convinced that a fire god spoke to him in the ritual brazier a few years ago giving him a holy mandate to bring his religion back from the dead.
  • Architecture

    With the style of the buildings being magical in nature the world around them does not have the same rules as the material plane and gravity does not work as strongly on buildings, because of this the design of the spires are mainly done with liquid quick metal that can be changed and shifted easily with a little magic. The supports of the buildings do not look strong but magic holds them steadily and in place constantly. On the central spire there is a flag that bears the symbol for the Sothern Mage Conglomerate while on each of the other spires the flags for the other groups are displayed proudly to let the apprentices see the options for their area's of study in the future.

    Defenses

    With the whole school being in another plane they did not see much reasoning for many defenses beyond defenses from hostile spells, Vivian Decard has cast a few spells that prevent hostile magic from anywhere in the school excluding the dueling arena in the middle spire's courtyard. These spells prevent all magic from affecting the school from the outside of its bounds and also the buildings are protected from any magic hostile or not.
