Dwarves of Damus

Once upon a time, there were six great Dwarven clans living in mountain city-states on the continent of Damus. Before Jomril raised the volcanoes, he warned his people, to leave the area. The clans boarded large ships and left many of their possessions behind, sailing back to they homeland, Utea, where they settled down in Mogeth, the ancient kingdom of the Dwarves.

Cultural heritage

The Dwares (and the Giants who live with them) came to Damus, to help the life of the Surta elves and the work of the Goddess Narmiraen. They mined ores from the depths of the mountains, they made metal tools and items for sale. Also they taught the elves the art and tricks of mining, metallurgy and metalworking - at least those that weren't classified as clan secrets.
Bena elves are currently the only race, who are mining on the continent, and they are trying with all their might to preserve the secrets of forging. Ledkir is the only one of the Segai villages to have a smithy. It is run by Olur, the monkey-segai, a descendant of an escaped Segai slave.

All the treasure left behind

When the Dwarves sailed away, they took only the most important things with them. Unemptied pantries and treasuries were left behind, and in the great haste, some of their family heirlooms were lost. The Bugits, Segaii and Elves sought to acquire this wealth, and the Firedragons also hoarded or extorted many valuables from the people of the continent. There are still plenty of lost items around in the jungle.

I read your article as part of my summer camp reading challenge!   The article was short, but I don't feel like I'm missing anything information-wise. I would love to see quotes of anyone studying dwarven culture, or a look into the forges of the Bena elves. Something to really make tangible the struggle with keeping a dying art alive. Overall a solid article!

So much information crammed into such a concise article! You certainly wrote the heck out of this prompt. I appreciate all the linked articles, as they allowed me to stay with the narrative as I went along. I'd like to hear more about expeditions back to Damus. Do archeologists go there to learn about the past? Or maybe scavengers who scrounge for the wealth left behind? This was a fun article!

Thank You! The inhabitants of the world are only now embarking on larger expeditions, as the generations born after the early, god-assisted great migrations have forgotten about the wider world. Damus is currently being scouted by the followers of the goddess Zellevera (The Cult of the Red Skull), and the others tend to drift here by accident.
