Zaghig village

Zaghig was built on a small oasis in the middle of the desert Bor. This small village is the home of the lizard-segaii, who hunt in the dry region.

The village has two concentric circle log walls and a deep trench with a drawbridge between them. The opposite gates are sliding to the side, but six Hunters Streght need to pull to open or close them since they are fortified with metals. The village closes its gates at dusk. The walls have 7 watchtowers. The Hunters who guard the village look for attackers, merchant caravans/traders, sandstorms, and wild Dustrunners near the area.

Zaghig has a simple layout. In the center is the chieftain's two-story home and the Hall of the Hunters, a large tavern-like building. This Is the place where the outsiders can rest, and buy food or drinks. Between the two is a large tent: Laga's Goods. Laga is the first wife of Chieftain Gorlag, and she runs most of the trade inside and outside of the village. She has six guards, four of them are her adult children. Her business is open every day, if she is not around, her daughter, Nasha, takes care of the customers.
There are three simple workshops near, a smithy, a carpentry, and a tannery. Since the water is little and needs to be saved, the tannery is only open when the work is piled up or rained earlier. A small shrine of Vangrakath stands right beside the most northern point of the inner walls. Close to the shrine, a barn-like log building stands named the Old Lizard. This small tavern is the meeting place of the locals, mainly the elders' haunt.
The houses are 15 yurts and 3 slavepens. Between the houses are two rat-pen, where the Segai fatten giant rats. Near the water, a small, natural orchard grows. The walls keep these safe too.

Zaghig's common trade is leather and chitin and providing shelter for outsiders stranded in the desert. They buy wood, stone, and water from Woglug, Pargu, and Gomoku. They occasionally traded with foreign merchants who landed in Prigka Harbor, and the GFT.
Zaghig had a long history with the AUN. Once, Wrug hunters were the assassins of the great Nash tribe, but since the peaceful days, the Army made a great alliance with the chieftains: they may rescue any AUN soldiers they found in the Bor, and the generals pay it back with the same effort.

Chieftain Gorlag keeps the peace of the tribe with a clear approach: "If you don't behave, you can go to the desert". Banishing the troublemakers and unsuccessful challengers made his rule long. His good trade relations protected his people from tribal wars.

Wrug hunters are swift and silent, hunting with slings, spears, and knives. Light, sand-colored clothes and headwear are common here with tattoos and warpaints. Some of them willingly join to trade caravans as guides or guards.

I always find desert cultures very interesting.
