Session 11: The Wastes of Xhorhas

General Summary
The Busty Centaurs are undertaking a perilous journey from the Xhorhassian fishing village of Jigow to the Kryn Dynasty fortress-town of Bazzoxan, following the call of a strange figure known as Alyxian. Alyxian, speaking in a vision, had asked them to find him inside an ancient temple to the Betrayer Gods known as the Betrayers' Rise. Our heroes equally hope to learn more about an amulet linked to Alyxian, a Vestige of Divergence known as the Jewel of Three Prayers, by contacting visiting scholars - experts in The Calamity - who have recently arrived in Bazzoxan, for reasons unknown. Travelling with the Centaurs are another group of adventurers, erstwhile rivals whose fates have seemingly been joined to those of our heroes by the shared vision of Alyxian.
When we last left off, this super-group of adventurers had just come to the aid of a patrol of Aurora Watch soliders who had been beset by a large toad-like demon that stalked the wastes. Grieving their loss comrade but grateful for the heroes' aid, Dusk Sargeant Kalvos promised to commend the troupe to the commander of the Bazzoxan garrison, Taskhand Verin Thelyss, and provided written documentation to that effect, a Kryn Dynasty emblem, as well as a small monetary bounty.
Trudging on through the mud and the drizzling rain, the next day's travel saw the adventurers come across the swollen corpse of an enormous ape-like demon, who had evidently been felled in a ferocious skirmish that ended the lives of at least a dozen members of a human tribe and its horses, whose bodies lay strewn about the muck. Ulfar surveyed the area and found signs of at least one escaped horse, but not without accidentally catching the attention of a trio of quasits and a circling, vulture-like demon, a vrock. A new skirmish ensued, with the demonic bird in particular dealing a series of devastating blows with its talons, before gradually being worn down through the team's combined efforts.
In the silence that followed, Ursa retrieved a magical dagger from a demonic corpse, an ancient-looking weapon with a name carved into its bone pommel, "Kierchaly Wastewalker."
