Alix of France
Alix Capet
Younger daughter of Louis VII of France and Eleanor of Aquitaine. She is named for her aunt, Petronilla of Aquitaine, who was known as Alix, who died a year before Alix's own birth.
Louis and Eleanor separated less than a year after Alix's birth; Louis had hoped for a son and made no bones about it. Although her parents' marriage was annulled on grounds of consanguinity she and her older sister Marie, Countess of Champagne were declared ligitimate. They remained in custody of their father.
Alix is Countess of Blois through marriage to Coun Theobald V of Blois, and served as regent to him from his departure on crusade in 1190 to his death in 1191. She is now regent to their son, Louis I of Blois.
She is on very good terms with her sister Marie. Like Marie she is a promoter of the ideas of Courtly Love, though her own court has not attracted the literary renown of the Court of Champagne.
