You can direct raids to occur even when you’re away.   Dread 25: Pirate Lord – Your name drives fear into the hearts of men. Command your own flotilla of pirate ships and their crews (20d4+20 pirates). Receive a blessing from the god of war, Tempus. The governments of men will keep their distance from you.   Dread 50: Dreadlord - You are a living pirate legend. You become the Pirate King, with all pirates of the Sword Coast heeding your word. The governments of the Sword Coast will not bother you in any way. Receive an additional blessing from Tempus.
