Session 64: The Council of Waterdeep Report

General Summary

Stepping through the portal from Parnast, the Rock Bottoms traveled to Waterdeep. They arrive within the Lord's Palace within the heart of the city of Splendor. There they were greeted by their old friend Leosin. Leosin gives the Rock Bottoms a run down of what has been happening since they had last spoken. There had been a murder of one of the Masked Lords of Waterdeep. This is beleived to have been done by the Cult. Leosin cautions the party that the lords and ladies of the council are worried about the cult activities but have not given any substantive pledges yet.   Leosin brings them to the chambers where the Council of Waterdeep is being held and makes introductions for the Rock Bottoms and the members of the council. Leosin makes his leave and Alaric gives a report of your dealing with the Cult of the Dragon. The council had some questions about how some things were handled but overall approved of the methods you all took in getting to where you are now.   The lords and ladies then discussed the current situation. First the weird mysterious feeling everyone had been feeling once a week. The council brough forth Lady Dala Silmerhelve, a noble from Waterdeep that through her own research has determined that it can be a mysterious device called the Draakhorn. A device that only Dragons can hear and those that do can heed it can come to its call. The last known location of the Draakhorn was the Seas of Moving Ice, and the person that knows the most about it is a wizard name Maccath the Crimson. MacCath was traveling the Sea of Moving Ice and has not been heard from in 3 years.   Second, the murder of the Masked Lord of Waterdeep brings back into call killing the high ranking officials of the Cult, known as the Wyrmspeakers. Rezmir was one of five wyrmspeakers that ruled over the cult. The council has done interigations on Talis the White and found out that the cult is after 5 dragon masks that are used to control dragons of the color of the mask. Harpers have been diligently working to find the wyrmspeakers and the masks. They have located the White Wyrmspeaker, a dwarf named Varram the White. His last location was Boareskyr Bridge searching for his lost White Dragon Mask. Leosin suggest looking for Varram, track him down and use him to find the White Dragon Mask.   Given the choice between the two missions, the Seas of Moving Ice and tracking down Varram, the Rock Bottoms decided that the White Dragon Mask was more important than locating this Draakhorn. Using the Badge of the Lord's Alliance you were able to get horses for your journey and they prepaired to depart for the serpent hills.

Rewards Granted

Badge of the Lords' Alliance. This Badge will prove to all that you have been granted emergency investigative powers. This grants the characters access to resources and sites they deem necessary for their investigation, but carries with it the burden of oversight from the council. If the adventurers misbehave or abuse their powers, their actions will be reviewed and the writ will be revoked.
