Personal history
In 1409 DR, a merchant in Baldur's Gate commissioned a statue of Minsc, who was by this time known as the 'Beloved Ranger'. The statue was placed in the Wide and remained there for several decades. Unbeknownst to everyone, the statue was in fact the real Minsc and Boo, petrified by magic. In 1489 DR, the elven sorceress Delina accidentally miscast a spell due to wild magic, freeing Minsc and Boo from their stony prison (a new statue was erected in 1492 DR). Minsc, Boo, and Delina eventually joined up with the thieves Shandie and Krydle, as well as the cleric of Kelemvor Nerys to be known as the Heroes of Baldur's Gate.
The group has since ventured through the mists of Barovia, rescued a dragon near Fireshear, cured Nerys of lycanthropy in Baldur's Gate, and faced down Zariel in Avernus. It was in Avernus that Minsc was thrown into the River Styx, losing all of his memories. Minsc has regained some of his sense of purpose thanks to his party, but is yet to recover his memories.
