Ghoul
Ghouls are irradiated Humans, who received just enough rads to not die but mutate. The proper result is a cancer-like mutation in telomeres, which are the part of the cell that controls cell death. The result is the breakdown of skin and flesh like any radiation poisoning, but the refusal of cells to outright die. This technically means ghouls are immortal, if cursed to look like zombies, or end up like them. Eventually the cancer and radiation will make a ghoul a mindless husk, killing anything that moves, but the breakdown rate varies greatly, some ghouls go feral months after exposure, others have been fine for centuries. Regardless, they are discriminated against frequently due to their disgusting appearance.
