XV. Ice Hunting

General Summary

Tugging on the chain, the party found themselves teleported in the middle of a blinding snowstorm. Alizeh and Akwele scouted out a cave to take shelter in while they made a plan to enter the frost giant’s fortress. Noticing a deep crevice that seemed to lead to a lower level of the outpost, Dev and (someone else) peered down into it and saw a mysterious hooded figure making their way to the northwest side of the map. The party entered the crevice and started making their own way through the icy caverns. They came upon a group of yetis, which they slew, and a snow leopard, which they intimidated out of attacking them. In an adjoining chamber, they ambushed and killed a group of frost giant guards (one of whom was asleep), with Alizeh summoning a snow owl to assist them. Afterwards, the party ran into more frost giant guards, who thought it was strange that the group was in the lower level instead of up above “with all the other contestants”. It was here that the party learned that the Jarl was holding a tournament. When asked about who they thought the clear winner of the tournament would be, the guards laughed and answered that they would put all their money on Sigmund. When the party mentioned that they had fought yetis, the guards commented with some worry that the guards stationed near there should have been keeping the yetis in line. The party suddenly realized that those had been the very guards they had killed earlier. They tried to play off the other guards’ absence, but the ones they were talking to weren’t completely convinced. The party took a short rest.
