Principal Inquisitor

The Principal Inquisitor is second to only the Lord Inquisitor in the power structure of The Inquisition. They are exclusively in charge of the Re-education centre and as such do not really have the same list of powers as the other ranks. Instead, they have unrestricted authority over the Re-education centre.   The Principal Inquisitor obtains this rank for various reasons. Sometimes a member of The Inquisition rises through the ranks exclusively within the Re-education centre. It has also been known that when the new Lord Inquisitor is chosen then their stiffest opposition is then assigned to the rank of Principal Inquisitor to remove the potential for politics interfering with duty. This of course means that whoever was the Principal Inquisitor is then replaced when the new Lord Inquisitor is chosen. Occasionally when a particularly effective Lord Inquisitor grows old, they opt to “retire” by taking the rank of Principal Inquisitor.
