Zeh
Zeh, meaning 'centre' in Tanese, is the middle province of the Kingdom of Tanish and has the largest population. The majority of the population is in the southern half, where the desert gives way to Mediterranean grasslands ripe for agriculture.
The people of Zeh are primarily rural farmers. Zeh has no major cities. The rest of the kingdom stereotypes them as being mostly country bumpkins. Zehan culture revolves around agriculture and they supply most of the food for the rest of the kingdom. Because most of them live in an area with significantly more grass and rainfall than the northern desert provinces, they have some unique cultural traditions and perspectives.

Assets
Their primary asset is agriculture. Much of Zeh is taken up by fields of wheat or millet. They also grow flax, chickpeas, lentils, onions, lettuce, and many others. Zehans joke that they're the only province that could continue to feed themselves if the kingdom dissolved tomorrow. Small amounts of fish are also caught on the short coast around Litse, though Uymil still dominates the seafood market.
History
In some respects, Zeh was the first province added to the kingdom. During the initial conquest, Nebay moved east, upriver, and took territory in what is now Zeh. However, the early conquests focused on following the river or the coast. There's about 50 miles of barren, rocky desert between the river and the fertile grasslands of what the true heart of Zeh is. It wasn't until most of the land along the river belong to Tanish that they expanded southward to take the grasslands.
For most of Tanishian history, Zeh was the southernmost province. They've long had a small Kalian minority living along the river and had more influence and interaction with Kalitria than the rest of Tanish. To this day, Zehans are more sympathetic to Kalian oppression than the rest of Tanish.
