Mizairo Laelis
Mirkhanen Mizairo Laelis
To Priestess Scholar Mädeh,I understand the Priests’ and Priestess’ desire of this letter for their records, but truthfully, I doubt my ability in writing well of my averihs. He cannot be described in words, even with as many as I may know. Mizairo Laelis, only son of Lasarel Laelis and Vydegn, also my beloved averihs. Born in the month of Marëkhs, year 10,636 in Mäsvell Dinmaar. He recently celebrated his three-hundred and third birthday, but it wasn’t much of a celebration as he preferred to work. I, however, would not let that slide.
As I stated, Lasarel Laelis and Vydegn are Mizairo’s birth-parents. Vydegn is of a long lost clan whose name was never important enough to be in any records and Lasarel, first daughter of Dï Nälä and first grand-daughter of Läshefïna Laelis, prodigy of House Laelis and heir. The two were never married and so they were never meant to produce Mizairo. Being the first of his generation in House Laelis helped relieve tensions of illegitimacy, but knowing his clan-mother, she loved him the day he was born.
Mizairo’s father, as Lasarel wrote of him (copies of which I have sent with this letter), was a man of many trophies. He was a hunter by trade, hailing from the village of Sunset within the empire and from a very small family. How the two met is uncertain, but Läshafïna believes her daughter may have met her lover during a hunt. Rarely did they adventure without each other, but Lasarel had been ill and she urged him to continue with the trip by himself or with friends
Vydegn did and promised to return with a gift made of his trophy, the species would be a surprise. Yet, Vydegn did not return. It had been three weeks (and several chains of correspondence) before Lasarel finally left the clan house to search for her lover. She too, was never heard from again.
Mizairo was still a babe when this happened and was left in the care of his other mothers and fathers, primarily it was Zezbeth, Lasasrel's womb-sister, and her thersaven Pessïrim who cared for him along side Zetakh. For some time, Mizairo did not know that Zezbeth wasn’t his mother by birth until he stumbled across the records and correspondence between Lasarel, the clan-parents, and other family. This was the final quake that bore the enormous chasm between Mizairo and Zezbeth. Truthfully, she favors her Zetakh over Mizairo and being as intuitive as he is, Mizairo knew this.
I met Mizairo when he was 17, enrolled in the Mahtryn Academy to further his martial skill. I myself was 19 years of age and a shïathyeriin to House Mydvän. I saw him and his brother stealing food from a stand belonging to my master. I paid for the food they stolen (they were caught) and urged them to not do it again. However, I later found them in my master’s court, subject to his sadistic will. Mizairo came forward and claimed it all his doing and in a very brutish manor not typical to his character. I later discovered this side of him, very protective of those who need it, and had done so to divert attention to him, away from young Zetakh
Mizairo agreed to work for my master to pay of what he stole and what he didn’t in lieu of publicly shame House Laelis. I was given the duty to supervise and in this time I grew very close to Mizairo. As you know, I am his averihs. He is tied to Sälethïa Laelis by a thersaven arranged by the clan-parents of House Laelis and House Mïsahvä as per the houses politics demand. Mizairo and Sälathïa have known each other nearly all their lives since their houses are so closely tied together. They attended the Valgaartiran academy together and naturally both each others work brought them together often. I know Mizairo loves her as she is his daughter's mother and his own best friend; the love of a sehnris is a beautiful thing. Sälethïa loves and admires him much the same and Läshefïna chose this union because she knew Mizairo and Säleh would be an ideal arrangement. Sälethïa and I have also known each other for quite some time as well and I consider her a close confidant. When Mizairo was absent for some of her pregnancy, I was there with her. When she learned of her father's sudden death, I was there with her and again when we attended his funeral. She has defended me and my relationship with Mizairo when questioned by prying eyes. She too has stood with me when I needed it most. I was there when she gave birth to Emë Lëas; Mizairo had rushed in at the very last minute, panting and exhausted as if he ran the entirety of Vindyarr Khrïn for the birth of his daughter (he may of have as he was on assignment...)
I know the averihs typically do not live with their lovers in these circumstances, but I harbor no jealousy here. Emë Lëas has three parents, all of which love her dearly. Just as Mizairo does, I too put the needs of the House before my own. Mizairo was and still is a very admirable, selfless, yet rational, pious, and virtuous in every aspect. I cannot describe my averihs in words, he is better described by the smile I bare while thinking of him.
Regards, Ezhidihn
Mizairo was born to the Laelis family in the capital city of the Valgaartiran and is the first of his generation in his family. The circumstances of his birth kept quiet and not until later into adulthood did he learn who his birth mother, Lasarel, and father, Vydegn, were. Being the first in his generation Mizairo received more pressure and is customary, he was groomed to become an heir of his House. As per tradition of his House, Mizairo was raised to learn martial skills, strategy, and command, but also had an affinity for more academic pursuits. Once graduated from the Academy of the Valgaartiran and completed basic educated, Mizairo had to abandon his interests outside of learning his House's traditional purpose. He went on to attend the Royal Arms Academy in Lüth Vä Dihn for another decade to further his training.
His closest sibling is Zetakh who born only a few years after him. Zetakh and Mizairo were largely inseparable growing up. Mizairo had no issues bonding with every parent in his House except for Zezbeth, Zetakh's womb-mother, with whom he does not have a good relationship with and mostly avoided. Despite her being declared his de-facto womb-mother in Lasarel's absence. Mizairo was closest to the clan-mother Läshefïna throughout his adolescence. Being close in age, Mizairo and Zetakh attended the Royal Arms Academy at the same time. During his attendance, Mizairo met the shïathyeriin Ezhidihn by chance. He developed a brief and intense, yet secretive relationship with him through a shared struggle that remains a mystery outside of their relationship.
Once graduated from the Royal Arms Academy, Mizairo and Zetakh returned home to the Valgaartiran for good. Mizairo was now allowed to begin the tradition of edïnänstëel tahrgah . He spent the beginning of adventure with his family's mercenary group that traveled the trade routes of Ënokh protecting caravans, but did not find this entirely enjoyable and traveled by himself for some time. Mizairo then opted to accompany the High Priestess of Mazarath, Gäl Adehlä Laelis during one her visits to the clan-House. Gäl Adehlä was self-exiled fromHouse Laelis, as is required of High Priestesses of Mazarath, but still maintained her contact and involvement with her family of birth. He learned much from Gäl Adehlä, but most importantly the mediation and self-discipline tactics of the High Priestesses of Mazarath that would become important later in his life. For the remainder of his edïnänstëel tahrgah Mizairo traveled with a priest of Mïzärn he met while with Gäl Adehlä. Priest Sahlissihrth, veherrihs and archaeologist by profession in the temple of Mïzärn, explored Ënokh to rediscover whatever may have been lost to time. He had a close and romantic relationship with the priest he protected and also taught him the sphere of Mïzärn.
Mizairo returned home early from his adventures when he felt he was ready to commit to a greater purpose. His clan-mother, Läshefïna had suggested and also pressured he find his place within the mirkh. Mizairo did just this while still a young man at the age of 94. Well into 200 years later, Mizairo ascended to the honorable rank of Mirkhanen where he remains at today.
As Mizairo neared 300 years of age, it time for his clan-parents to arrange a thersaven. Mizairo hadn't proposed any partners of interest over the years and didn't maintain many long-term relationships. However, his clan-parents had already began an arrangement with House Mïsahvä long before this. Sälethïa Mïsahvä and Mizairo had been friends during their time in the academy at the Valgaartiran and quickly resumed this friendship when they both returned home from their respective edïnänstëel tahrgah . Both clan-parents of Mïsahvä and Laelis watched their relationship closely and determined they would make for a successful partnership. The two began their courtship set-up by their families and within five years would be formally married in 10,929 A.W. Their thersaven would produced one child, a daughter and first of her generation in House Laelis, Emë Lëas Laelis.
The First Invasion
During the first invasion, Mizairo Laelis had been a heavyman soldier in the Valgaartiran mirkh for 15 years. He served under mirkhanen Däsihlul Rayagäväl for the entirety of his service at this point. Mirkhanen Däsihlul was one of several mikrhanen that led the initial ground defenses once the fikheri had touched down on Ënokh. Within hours of touchdown, the legions upon the fields of Vindyarr Khrïn had fractured. Numerous soldiers were slaughtered and three mirkhanen had already fallen, Däsihlul included. In the blur of this devastation contact lines to Vihdesteya Hälithera and the capital's walls were lost. Däsihlul's first mirkhü inherited command her legion and in an attempt to re-establish contact with his mirkhü, he had fallen as well. Mizairo's sessïn had been reduced to three; Mizairo Laelis, Gidihrväth Gandevaht, and their mikrhülen Dëdihroth Khädeväl. They grouped with the nearest soldiers they could find, one of which was current Vihdesteya Valsähr. This makeshift sessïn held themselves together while gathering as many surviving soldiers as possible. During these events Mizairo assumed command in the absence of any mirkhanen or mirkhü other than Valsähr. This group had successfully rooted themselves outside of the trenches that surrounded the walls. The mirkhülen Dëdihroth would unfortunately die from his wounds during this endeavor. The three formulated a plan once they had secured their position as well as enough able soldiers. Gidihrväth would lead his own group to push further North and reach the Videhsteya, Valsähr would maintain the point they secured with his men, and Mizairo would move south to another entry/exit point along the trenches. Their plan was successful and all three points of the trench was secured by the time Videhsteya Hälithera had sent a second wave of legions. After the second wave, both sides entered a stalemate. However, news of Hälithera's death spread and diminished morale, but she did not die without naming her first mirkhesen, Valsähr, as her successor. Videhsteya Valsähr would immediately order all citizens to evacuate to the vault beneath the city. Over the course of the week, the mirkh maintained control of five miles surrounding the capital's walls. Mizairo did not relent and instead opted to push further from his point at the trenches and reclaimed a nearby village for medical relief. In the final hours of the invasion, the last broodship was destroyed and the news was relayed to the ground. The black rain had ceased and all that remained were scattered, surviving fikheri. Mizairo, Gihdihrväth and mirkhanen Svä Thihlausü led a last push to purge any fikheri they could find from the Valgaartiran's borders. More forces would follow as the capital was secured. In this pursuit, he was horribly wounded by a lone fikheri; this skirmish being how he attained the scars on his face. Three days, Mizairo's legion would return without any losses, but many would be confined to medical attention for another week including Mizairo Laelis. It would be several months and several operations later to undo the damage sustained from initial wounds and subsequent infections to his face before Mizairo could return home. For his actions and assumption of leadership, Mizairo would be formally declared a mirkhanen once the invasion was official over. He was the youngest to attain rank of mirkhanen at only 127 years of age. Videhsteya Valsähr awarded him this alongside Gidihrväth for both of their bravery. In the calm after the storm, the Valgaartiran finally had room to rebuild and repair. The forces of the mirkh were allowed the opportunity to volunteer and Mizairo was one of many who did volunteer with relief efforts around the empire as well as around Ënokh. After six months, Mizairo would return home again, but he was not the same person.Relationships
