The Pit Fighters

The Pit fighters are a former adventurers-turned-mercenaries-turned criminals. They are a mix of costal and mainlanders, their different backgrounds make them very well connected. The pitfighters were established after a group of five men grew too old to continue taking contracts for money. The men who still wanted the respect and acknowledgement of their circles decided to look for alternative ways to make money. The last contract they had taken group captured a group of Night Pests captive from the tundra. Rather than exterminate the pests they had the idea to starve the creatures and aggrivate them by keeping them in small conditions without rest. They decided to dig a makeshift ring at their base in Rakside/ The Rakes' Hide and placed a live rat in the centre, and the night pests all descended upon it with several fighting to the death, the men cheered and placed bets, when the idea struck them to make this a business opportunity.   The group would go on to collect larger, more exotic creatures and keep them captive for the sport. People would be invited to watch their fights and have the opportunity to gamble. outsiders were also invited to participate for the chance of winning cash although many were stupidly overconfdent and swiftly met their demise.   The fights would then become mobile with the men collaborating with socerors to create a travelling caravan, that seemingly had bigger dimesions inside and was supernaturally fast. The caravan would allow them to travel all over the country finding new spectators and new fighters. Whilst making it easier to avoid authourities and their enemies.   The majority of the fighters come from wild monster that have been trapped, desperate people looking to make quick money, or criminals who have made a deal for a shorter sentence. Due to its under the table nature its common to see Trow Goblins  in the arena as they are limited in the work they are able to find. amongst the people and creatures the fighters are also in possession of a unique creature named Batty a Cave Goblin, who comes from a far away land and was traded to them at a port in Denmaerd to settle a fighters debt.   The pit fighters sit on uneasy terms with a lot of common folk, as they are always one step away from outright holding people captive, although this has not happened yet. Allegedly. Despite this the Pit Fighters are well-connected people who are skilled in trading in information. They work closely with the criminals of Rakside/ The Rakes' Hide including gangs and affiliations like the Barrel Scrapers. Many government officials view them as as a necessary evil as they bring in (and spend) a lot of money and take the odd dangerous criminal, and over comfident layabout off of their hands. this makes it easier for them to be tolerated in larger cities like Denmaerd  and Wintrow. Interestingly the Pit Fighters do not utilise the Elven Network Trade Route instread favouring their own method of transport as it allows them to make smaller stops along the way, although their priorities are in cities they pass through many towns and rely on their supplemental contributions.
