The Silverwinds

The Silverwinds is a heavily forested and mountainous highland that is in southern Maelstrom. It's best known for the Mythical towering evergreen forest known as the Silverveil and the Northern Most woods known as the Deep Mystwoods. This is said to be the resting place of the Elder Dragon Wooshu.
"For I am granted beauty upon the Silverveil. Great pines of silver shimmering in the moons. Deep wrought in history of Ancient Gaia. It has become my sanctuary, when I am away. The dense Mystwoods are to cover and protect as I rest and remain from hurting the ones I care of."
~Wooshu Runestone, found in New Silverwind

Structure

It was a shadow of what it once was. The region is now known as the Silverwinds. It was once a post-Shattering republic that engineered some of Gaia's greatest inventions. The organization went from a republic to a wild land that has gnoll tribes roaming it. A few of the tribes have settled down, and some have Joined the Cheiftain's New Silverwind project. Its a loose confederation of tribes that are trying to find their way back in the world. Tribes are lead by chieftains as are settlements. There are no taxes, and thus the hierarchy of leadership is very small. Usually the cheiftain's offspring take over the role, and if there is one lacking, they chose their successors.

Culture

They are the children of a lost empire. Having sworn off most technology in favor of the old ways, so they do not once again lose their home. The Tribes offer a glimpse of how life was in the past. They have the very basics of industry, but nothing compared to their ancient ancestors. They are deeply spiritual to their ancestors and often pay them tribute to guide them. The Ruins of Silverwind is a sacred place for them, Some of the Silvermanes usually make sure they pilgrimage to the ruins once in their lives to pay respect to their past and those who they lost during the fall back in 10AS. The gnolls otherwise are hunter gatherers, and often are seen mining, or even working lumber-mills to build their settlements.

Archivers

Archivers are the silvermanes who seek to restore Silverwind to its glory. The gnolls are often seen as taboo by the tribes, but they embrace the modern world for what it was, and argue that they must adapt to survive. They know much more than they did in the past, and A new Silverwind Fall would be much harder to happen once again. They do at times clash with the tribes, even though they embrace progress and technology, they aren't victorious all the time when the clashes do happen. These Silvermane gnolls are often seen outside the Silverwinds and out amongst the world.

History

SIlverwind was once a technological academy dedicated to advancement of society after the Combined Empire's fall. The gnolls were very paws on with their technology and studies. They were engineers without rivals at the time. They are credited to inventing the first airships on Gaia. The actual fall of Silverwind is a mystery however, much like how the Combined Empire fell. The Guild of Lore and the Silvermanes agree that the two events were related, somehow. It seems some unseen force wanted to prevent them from becoming what they once were.

Similarities in Zenthia Iksamas

Across the oceans in the Iksamas desert, the unrelated Race know nas the Zenthians, had also experienced a fall in empires. With a few of the docile Zenthians and a few of teh Silvermanes, they are bothered at how close and related thier events may have been. The Silvermanes and the Zenthians still have no idea what caused them to fall back into tribal lifestyles. The Silvermanes however, are blessed to not be at each other's throats, unlike the Zenthians who fight amongst themselves almost daily.

The Mystwoods and Wooshu

Wooshu is said to inhabit the northern part of the region within the mystwoods. The Runestone found in New Silverwind seems to denote that Wooshu has found refuge and self-exile within the dark and thick forests of the region. The woodlands beyond the mountains are largely unexplored, and only house a few nomadic Silvermane tribes, as well as Fey Courts. The fey, however, are largely untrusted amongst the majority of Silverwind.
