Esm
Esm is an island in the easternmost Galafam Sea, off the western coast of Isin Isthmus. The island has a relatively arid climate and is home to various endemic flora and fauna, similar to the Merr Islands on the other side of the isthmus, though unlike the latter, Esm has been inhabited for millennia.
Fauna & Flora
The island is the only place where lemurs and elephant birds can be found, the latter which are left alone for the most part by the native Esmans due to being considered sacred, though the eggs are sometimes harvested and their contents consumed as part of certain rituals. Other notable species on and around Esm includes badgers, brush rabbits, tenrecs, sea turtles, sea lions and whale sharks.
Giant baobabs and various conifers are found in the central highlands, where the weather is slightly cooler and more humid, while the more arid lowlands and coastal regions are dominated by agave, prickly pears and other thorny plants.
