Silmara Vanabar
Silmara comes from a house of minor nobility in the kingdom of Birma. She was raised to believe that noble women served little purpose other than trophy wives and tools to grow familial alliances. After begging her father to allow her to be more involved, she was given the option to survey the marshes north of the settlement known as Hool, in the New World. The offer was meant to scare her and make her want to stay within their home's safe walls. It worked, for a little while, until she was contacted by a solicitor, who said that her aunt, gone from their home since her childhood, had died, and there were possessions in her home in Hool that were now hers. Her aunt, Idonia, was seen as a black sheep within the family, and when Silmara misbehaved, her mother would disapprovingly say, "You'll end up like Idonia if you don't change."
Sensing an opportunity to prove her father wrong about her bravery, and to get to know more about the life lived by her Aunt, she set out to the New World, and to Hool Colony.
Along the way she was accosted, and felt a surge of magical power within her. Witnessing this, a traveling warrior named Drazer offered to join her in her journey to the New World as her bodyguard. Upon arrival, a native lizardman named Bork approached her at the harbor, wondering if she was a scholar, and offering to take her around town. Upon learning that she may have property here, he took her to see Bartholomew Brocksby - the town notary, who uncovered a document showing that Idonia inherited the property from her sometime husband, Trevisian Helmont. Unfortunately, the property - a mansion about four miles up the coast - was reputedly haunted.
Silmara attempted to settle her affairs as Drazer and others undertook to search for work, but when they returned, she had disappeared, and her whereabouts where unknown. After a while, Kray , working as a fisherman on the Octopus, discovered a bottle with a message in it. The message seemed to be from Silmara, claiming she was kidnapped, and was being held against her will on board of some vessel.
Silmara is about 5'1" tall and lean. Skinny to the point of malnourishment, she has cool grey eyes, pale skin, and long reddish brown hair. She normally wears traveling clothes that look unassuming, but are made from high quality materials.
