Wall of Verzit

The Wall of Verzit — sometimes known as Verzit's Windless Wall — is a boreal confierous forest that dominates the north-central region of Gol-Kasha. It is bordered to the north by the Sli Highlands, to the east by the Arit Forest and Githind Swamp, to the south by Lake Dvor, and to the west by the Thine-Shir Mountains.   The Wall was named after an Ihmisii explorer known as Verzit who first documented its strange property of being "windless." Many scholars have attempted to interpret this meaning since, though none have been fully accepted by the scientific community. Some believe this "windlessness" describes the dense nature of the trees, which when combined with the highlands to the north, tend to create a strong windbreak against the arctic currents from the nearby Gahet Wastes. Others suggest the "windlessness" indicates a spiritual disconnect within the forest, linked to a favoured Ihmisii Aspect of the Lord of Bridges & Baubles, the Voice Down the Lane, who is sometimes translated as the Wind Down the Lane. Some suggest the name stems from the fact there is a veritable "wall" of defensive towers and forts established, though these are firmly to the north in the highlands, and were built long after Verzit's time. Others yet believe the name is a meaningless mistranslation.   Whatever the origin of the Wall's name, those who dwell within report it being a place that is all too easy to get lost in, and that wanderlust is the only thing keeping its denizens alive. It is a very known phenomenon for people to become seemingly randomly overcome with a desire to leave the Wall. So common is this, the locals call it being "Windswept."
