Descending from The Northern Spine and returning to The Roost, ser Ashtin Phyrefenn and his companions spotted several Black Ships of The Roil, including one which ser Jesmyn Lavon identified as The Midnight Sun, the flagship of Admiral Voss Blackhand.
As the other ships in the small group came in to dock in the ruined town surrounding The Roost, Ashtin had The Devourer scout ahead to find what information it could. The powerful Shade skulked through the town and into the water all the way to the warped, blackened hull of The Midnight Sun, but recoiled as it became aware of a powerful dark presence bound to the ship. Looking up, it became aware of the eyes of Admiral Voss watching it from the deck high above. It called out a request for Parlay, but distant form of the Admiral responded that she would speak, but not with it.
The Devourer returned to Ashtin's side, and relayed all that it had learned - that the ships had clashed with The Third Flotilla of the Allenian Royal Fleet near Tollingbell and were here seeking supplies for repairs; that the ship was indeed The Midnight Sun; that it harboured a powerful dark presence; and that the Admiral was willing to speak with Ashtin.
So the knight and his companions marched down to the dock and demanded that one of the smaller ships ferry them to The Midnight Sun.
Once in front of Admiral Voss, Ashtin learned that while she was willing to discuss joining her fleet to the The Court of the King in Exile, the price for her service was something that only King Dalran Somercrag could grant. Furthermore, she would have to speak to the King aboard The Midnight Sun, as she was unable to leave its deck, but the ship could not enter the bay near Tollingbell while the Allenian Fleet remained there.
Ashtin left to return to Tollingbell himself to deliver these latest developments to his King.
