Following complaints made by guards of mysterious sounds and lights moving in Faircastle's Abandoned Old Tower at night, Lady Ophelia Foxworth-Hayford delved into the ruins accompanied by her Sworn Sword ser Anron Wren.

They encountered a strange creature within the top of the tower. Lady Ophelia drove it from the tower, but not before it had injured ser Anron. The bird crashed in a cloud of steam into The Redford River where it flowed below the castle.

There is no definite answer to what Lady Ophelia Foxworth-Hayford and ser Anron Wren encountered in The Old Tower.
They described a bird, possibly an eagle, which appeared to be wreathed in flame.
Some of the guards attributed this to a Hearth Spirit left behind by the previous inhabitants and angered by percieved enemies in its territory.
Others spoke of creatures from myth or old wives' tales, like those that adorn the Rothevalian Knightly Orders.
