Anthropomorphism

Anthropomorphism is the common human behaviour of attributing things in the world with human-like characteristics. Whether that be assigning human-like emotions and motives to the actions of animals, seeing human faces in the patterns of bark on a tree or in a bank of clouds, or calling a dull knife stubborn or a well worn boot weary, humans' natural empathy extends beyond other humans.

Throughout The Continent of Greland it has been observed that over time, this behaviour manifests by instilling actual personality in creatures, places and things. Some call these manifestations spirits, while those from The Spire might refer to them as a 'genius loci'. Some common manifestations, and cultural practices related to them, are listed below:
