Anthropomorphism is the common human behaviour of attributing things in the world with human-like characteristics. Whether that be assigning human-like emotions and motives to the actions of animals, seeing human faces in the patterns of bark on a tree or in a bank of clouds, or calling a dull knife stubborn or a well worn boot weary, humans' natural empathy extends beyond other humans.
